Common packaging materials:
Glass = Jars, Bottles
Metal = Tins, Cans
Cloth = Sacks
Paper = Bags, Boxes, Cartons

All have been used to transfer photographic images onto in the past.

sunshinemiss -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (2/10/2008 1:09:33 PM)

KnightofAris -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (2/10/2008 8:13:12 PM)

If that is the case then please tell me what year Glass is supposed to represent in either the British or the US system?

Crystal would have been more accurate and then it would have been more obvious. I'm sure many people thought it might have been aniversaries but umbrella categories such as metal and glass would have ruled it out in their heads.

Metal could have represented a number of aniversaries including Bronze, Aluminium, Tin, Gold.

It's a bit unspecific and in reality could have been any of the other answers given also.

Can't be.  ANDi was not cloned.  He did come from IVF.  But the big deal with him was that he has jellyfish genes.

Laces ? Or Lacings ?

MMagicsfaith1 -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (2/11/2008 8:53:30 PM)

Good guess..close but not quite.

And, to  Aylee, thank you, yes perhaps "genetically engineered animals" would be a better description.    cc, Fibro and Idaho Gem ( cat, mouse and mule) were all cloned animals. ANDi is commonly albeit erroneously referred to as "the first cloned" monkey and is referenced as such in numerous pro/anticloning websites.  He is, in fact, the first transgenic primate.  The first cloned primate was Tetra born in January of 2000, also at the Oregon Regional Primate Research Center.  ANDi was actually "produced" by intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) not IVF.

Sounds like the scene of the first gunfire of the US Revolutionary War. Gunpowder and triggers are parts of rifles and the first shot was commonly thought to be (at one time) Lexington. I'm not sure if Winchester was the manufacturer of those early rifles though, but I'm taking a guess they are.

I'm pretty sure I'm right about the dogs, and I can't find a profile (and thus a message box) for nohalo, so I'm gonna take the plunge and post a new quartet.

NEW QUARTET:

Alexander the Great
Julius Caesar
Napoleon Bonaparte
Gustave Flaubert

(Bonus poiints if you ID the odd one out.)

Great guesses...but not what I was going for.  I was naming famous horses - a much too simple quartet for my fellow researchers.  My loss for not having an active profile!!  Now I am off to look for those bonus points, dc!
