LanceHughes -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (12/3/2009 3:41:41 PM)

Jean Vander Pyl (Ref: Wikipedia)

and since I'm so sure, here's the next quartet:

Spanish
French
Italian
(wait for it..... no, it's not romance languages)
Hawaiian

Hint #1: unique.... that is, no more languages can be on this list
Hint #2: ..................ever

windchymes -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (12/3/2009 5:20:36 PM)

Hey Lance, you're right!  Ok, you get the next one!  [:D]

fluffypet61 -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (12/3/2009 6:49:59 PM)

Languages spoken by a famous person no longer with us.

fluffypet61 -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (12/3/2009 6:51:38 PM)

[Lance.  As i was driving past Jane Lew in WV earlier this week i saw a sign for glass factory tours.]

LanceHughes -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (12/3/2009 7:13:11 PM)

C'mon, fluff - you can do better than that!  Just for that, "No hint for you!"  And no, not to do with anything 2nd City or Saturday Night Live or any such - all them are too young to be this dead....... oops! I guess that was a clue......

fluffypet61 -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (12/3/2009 7:15:56 PM)

Did this person also speak English? ... Latin?

LanceHughes -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (12/3/2009 7:22:26 PM)

As a matter of fact, this person spoke English as their native tongue, but see clue #1.

sunshinemiss -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (12/3/2009 9:42:50 PM)

Don Ho?

Musicmystery -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (12/3/2009 11:19:50 PM)

Nationalities of the women Tiger Woods has slept with.

LanceHughes -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (12/4/2009 6:09:25 AM)

MM: LOL! But 'tis just one person involved in the answer.
SSMiss: Close as to era, but not Don Ho..... And you need to explain why the quartet is unique, even though English is not in there.

fluffypet61 -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (12/4/2009 7:15:49 AM)

Captain James Cook?

igor2003 -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (12/4/2009 7:32:23 AM)

Foreign languages spoken by some famous dead person. With the Hawaii connection I'll guess Jack Lord.

Closest yet, but not close enough.  Of course, it's a famous dead person, but not Jack Lord (nor fluff's Captain Cook.)

Of course, it's four foreign languages (with English being this person's native tongue.)

There is a "Hawaiian connection," but I'm not sure whether it's stronger than just listing that language.  Well, slightly stronger, but not much.  Pretty sure this person visited all the countries listed.  (Well, Hawaii probably wasn't a state at the time of his visit, I imagine.)

What is left in your guess is wrong.  And we need the famous person's name, now don't we?

C'mon folks, I can't make it more clear without just typing the name.  That is: I'm outta clues. LOL!
