You might think of this quartet as a connection between connections. All four are involved equally in that metaconnection.

And when is as important as what.

I guess I might add not to overcomplicate it. The connection is simple.

The Congress of Vienna connected 3 of the 4countries, but was ambassadors, not heads of state. And did not include the US.

You said it was after 1803 and it had to be before 1820 when George III died.

i'm stumped.

This is proving much harder than I expected.

The year is indeed important, and the commonality was also indeed while all four were heads of state.

It was before the Congress of Vienna.

War of 1812/Napoleonic Wars

Musicmystery -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (8/15/2009 9:17:10 PM)

Exactly. In 1812, George III attacked President Madison's U.S.; Napoleon I attacked Czar Alexander's Russia.

Neither conflict was particularly successful nor lasted very long.

We got the Star-Spangled Banner out of it though, which led directly to Jimi Hendrix and Woodstock.

You're up, fluffy.
