I think it's ridiculous, once you have someone cuffed you can just drag them out. There is no need for additional tasering. I can see it to the point were they are handcuffed after that there is no risk.  These officers should be fired.

Being shocked by an outlet is a different thing, 120 volts at a higher amperage compared to 50000 volts at a low amperage. The 50000 will fuck you up more, but not be as life threatening as the high amps from a socket.

he was the only one asked.

university computer labs are very VERY suspect....alot of trouble can orghinate from these labs.

of the univeristies near my home, 1 says no way. the public cant use it.
teh other univeristy- welcomes the public- but asks the public to not use lexus-nexus or other such paid databases.

@96 i did not own a computer. finally a guy in a chat room GAVE my his old computer. which i enjoyed for several months till a lightening storm. shortly after that i bought a scrat and dent model from Sears. i also bought a few off of ebay. at one point i had 5.

I'm pretty amazed that university police would act like this.  There is no reason to use a taser on someone who doesn't pose a physical threat--and there are going to be some repercussions for using the taser on him AFTER he was handcuffed.  Yes, the guy was pissing them off, but that was child's play compared to what police officers see on the streets.  They could have just cuffed him and carried him out.

L&M, I disagree, teach them a lesson.
I think the Police and Security in this country are turning into pussys.
They need to be much tougher!
When I was young if a cop told you to move along while hanging around on a street corner and you didn't they'd just take out their billy club and crack you on the back of the legs.
I saw that once so when they told me to move along I did.
Plus they all knew my father who was a firefighter and if I wised-off to them I'd REALLY get it from him!

I'm really suprised at this view from you popeye. So, the police should be able to beat people senseless even when it's not necessary. Hell, I think it should have happened like this.

Officer:"Please leave the building"
Kid: No
Officer: "Please leave the building or we will have to remove you"
Kid: No
Officer: Tasers kid and handcuffs him drags him out and to the police station for charges.

Instead they just keep tasering him for no reason, I saw about 5 officers in the video, that could easily drag a cuffed person out of there in a couple minutes. Compared to the fiasco of dragging it out and re-tasering to no effect on removing him.

These officers just created about a 100 anti-police citizens for themselves in that library. I don't see how that is good for the cops.

Thoughts by a cop on the subject.  Probably will piss off many who do the knee jerk reaction and always cries 'Police Brutality' the moment a cop touches someone to arrest them.   But, if you take the time to really think from this officers point of view and experience you may see the true root of the problem is not campus security.

Maybe they should have just shot the kid in the leg. The taser wouldn't have to be used. Whatever happened to respecting our elders and those in law enforcement??

The true root of the problem is that they tasered a student who was already handcuffed, and no amount of pro-police rhetoric or liberal vs. conservative bullshit is going to change that fact.

The true root of the problem is that its getting that cops are starting to become afraid of cuffing people.

I do not support what happened,  make no mistake about that.  But instead of laying blame on others, how about people start taking responsibility for their own actions.

.....and would that include the police officer taking responsibility for using what has in the past been lethal force on an already restrained subject?

What does that have to do with the repeated use of the Taser *after* he was already cuffed?

Indeed, and the campus police should step up and show just how that's done.

You know, it's cute--we like to blame liberals for everything, but I didn't think I'd live to see the day when liberals are blamed for police brutality.

Well, it has a basis in scientific fact, what with the conservatives amongst us being such happy asses.

It's certainly a bizarre development.  As I said earlier in the thread, we're living in interesting times.
