i say life in prison due to: a) i believe that life in prison is by far a worse punishment that a death penalty b) Hanging him would immediately make him a martyr

I'd return him to power and completely pull out of the region. The man is no worse than Robert Mugabe, and it's my bet that out of every hundred Americans, one or two know who Mugabe is. i oppose the death sentence because i feel we have almost certainly executed innocent people. i cannot oppose except when i feel the person's guilt has been proven beyond a doubt. i have to be consistent. So, with regret, i voted for life imprisonment. candystripper

I have spent most of my adult life in an occupation that was based on 'live by the sword, die by the sword'. How many people have had the misfortune to experience true, instinctive and brutal violence? Its not nice quite simply. What are we? I thought that we were supposed to be the highest link in the animal world because we were capable of making rational decisions. Saddam is a twisted and evil man, I know that. But killing him will only bring us to his level and tear the Middle East apart. Imprison him - make him a living example of the consequences of his actions. Make humanity the victor of this battle!

Before I read LadyHugs reply I was going to suggest "just turn him over to a few of our more beloved sadistic Dominas", after reading LadyHugs I am going to suggest "just turn him over to a few of our more beloved sadistic Dominas" although I am am very certain our beloved Bita aka Celeste would most definately be able to contribute much to the process. Realistically I think killing him will only make him more of a martyr for those that still follow him. I believe that is along the way their brains work there. Personally I think life imprisonment being herded around by women guards with big mean guard dogs would be much more effective punishment. Dogs being unclean animals to them and women being considered not much more than property, me being the pschycological sadist that I am and all........turn him into a big whimpering pile of wussy mush. Then, after the world forgets about him......shoot him. Just don't feed him to the dogs, they deserve better meat than that.
