Dear raiken, mons, Ladies and Gentlemen; This thread documents, perhaps should be submitted in its own right, into the Leather Archives and Library; the better manifestation of "community." In my salad days, there were only letters and telephones, newspaper ads under personals. Met in houses, many groups without a name. Some grew into groups, spilled out of houses and the rest is history. The same with the explosion of communication, from phone calls and letters, face to face meetings; the Bulletin Boards of the computer age, into the present. The positives of the Internet generation, is on this thread. Often faceless or just a screen name, the impact upon other's lives and or well being can be most profound. It is impossible to document the many exchanges that occur off the message boards, chat rooms and such; where it goes back to the basic letters or phone calls and make a difference in other's lives. It is a group of many, that really care about others and those who have knowledge, skills and willing to share. It certainly is a community but, there is on this particular thread, documentation of 'community relations' at work. A vast majority of individuals quietly invest in their immediate community and or the larger community beyond. It isn't done out of becoming famous or padding their resume` or other selfish reasons; it is giving for the sake of giving, often undocumented and or unrecognized yet, still creates the power of giving and investing in others. Just a thought. Respectfully submitted for consideration, Lady Hugs
