Dear raiken, mons, Ladies and Gentlemen;

This thread documents, perhaps should be submitted in its own right, into the Leather Archives and Library; the better manifestation of "community."

In my salad days, there were only letters and telephones, newspaper ads under personals.  Met in houses, many groups without a name.  Some grew into groups, spilled out of houses and the rest is history.
The same with the explosion of communication, from phone calls and letters, face to face meetings; the Bulletin Boards of the computer age, into the present.

The positives of the Internet generation, is on this thread.  Often faceless or just a screen name, the impact upon other's lives and or well being can be most profound.

It is impossible to document the many exchanges that occur off the message boards, chat rooms and such; where it goes back to the basic letters or phone calls and make a difference in other's lives.

It is a group of many, that really care about others and those who have knowledge, skills and willing to share.  It certainly is a community but, there is on this particular thread, documentation of 'community relations' at work.

A vast majority of individuals quietly invest in their immediate community and or the larger community beyond.  It isn't done out of becoming famous or padding their resume` or other selfish reasons; it is giving for the sake of giving, often undocumented and or unrecognized yet, still creates the power of giving and investing in others.

Just a thought.

Respectfully submitted for consideration,
Lady Hugs

It is true that online friends are sometimes the very best.  They accept us for who we say we are.  Their advice has been welcome many times.  When my vanilla husband died the friends that came around and said just let me know if i can help have all disappeared now (is widows leprosy) but the lifestyle friends i have made on line and in r/t are still with me.  My Dom holds me when i cry and when i scream in pain from the unkindness of those that were so called friends and their many hurtful things they say and do.  My life friends are here to build me up to give me the assurance that i will indeed be fine.  I can never criticise an online relationship for that reason.  I do prefer a r/t Dom for myself but still talk to my first online Dom who continues to care and love me for who i am.  Makes me know that life can be real on many levels and may i continue to find that level with life friends.

I think because it takes effort on my part to interact with people on the net, that I give more of myself and in return get more than I might initially in a face to face environment. Thanks for a great post.
