I think Rodney Harrison will each the kid to channel his foot stomping aggression into taking opponent's heads off . . . within the rules of the game (with an occasional penalty), of course.

Good point, happypervert. Harrison loves to take the youngins under his wing.

Jones' showboating aside, I have a teeny, tiny glimmer of hope for my Cowboys this season.

Is anyone listening to Michael Vick aka Ron Mexico on ESPN ?

He's saying he met with the NFL commish and we are going to be surprised with the new Vick. Says he is going to cleanup his act, change the company he keeps, and be a good role model.
Supposedly Goodall told him, he needs to change things around and spoke about the new policies on personalbehavior/responsibility.It sounded like Goodall was laying down the terms for him to continue playing.
I for one really like Goodall's style and his focus on character and personal responsibility for ones actions.

Zack DeOssie went to the Giants. Starting out where his Dad did. I think he is going to do very well. Nice pick by the Giants

I guess that means he won't be hanging out with his brother any more.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) -- The San Francisco 49ers acquired veteran receiver Darrell Jackson from the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, landing a potential No. 1 pass catcher from a division rival for a fourth-round draft choice.

Jackson, a seven-year pro who spent his entire career with the Seahawks, gradually fell out of favor with Seattle general manager Tim Ruskell in recent months amid injuries and attitude concerns.

MIAMI (AP) - The Miami Dolphins went for Ginn instead of Quinn, and fans at the team's draft party jeered new coach Cam Cameron for the decision.
With Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn on the board, the Dolphins decided against addressing their most glaring need in the first round and instead took Ohio State receiver-returner Ted Ginn Jr.

"After roughly 12 hours, 99 picks, and more than enough cutaway shots to a dejected Brady Quinn for a lifetime, the first day of the 2007 NFL Draft has officially come to an end. Had your fill? Of course not. We're only just getting started. Here are 10 names to watch for on Sunday, Day 2 of the draft: "

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) - Adrian Peterson's mending collarbone didn't scare the Minnesota Vikings
The Oklahoma running back, still recovering from a broken right clavicle, went to the Vikings with the seventh overall pick in the NFL Draft on Saturday.

Minnesota just couldn't pass up the chance to bring a big-time playmaker to an offense that sorely needs one.

Potential best pickup on Day 2 of the draft:

Ohio St RB Antonio Pittman to the Saints

On Ron Mexico:
No more flipping off the fans who pay your salary?  What's the world coming to? ::sigh::
I will admit that I enjoy the occasional train wreck, especially when my team is experiencing a losing season.  It makes me feel better.  Is that so wrong?

Sabrina Vanuatu  I like it ... it sounds so....so...so exotic.

I have to admit, I like the train wrecks too. Just not on my tracks. I suspect we can count on TO, Randy and Ron to pull at least one boner this season.

Something just occured to me: all the taunting I have given Level over TO is gonna come back to haunt me. Football karma at it's finest.

He needs to go trainwreck someone else's team.

I'll be more than happy to watch the trainwreck that way.

Cleveland put itself back on the map with this draft.

Quinn will deliver and Winslow will be leading the league in TE receptions.

I'm not at all surprised by the Brady Quinn situation. The Browns did all right to get him at #22, but anything higher would have been a mistake. Here you have a pretty white boy from a big-name school who juiced up his numbers facing service academies for most of the year, and then laid a big egg every time he faced a real defense. Really, did this boy have a single good game against a competitive team? All that spells OVERRATED. The commentators were saying all night long that Brady Quinn was the biggest loser of the draft. What the hell? He's still getting millions in guaranteed money, and he's by no means a sure thing for the team that drafted him.

Quinn played behind a suspect line and ND's roster wasn't all that star studded. Two of LSU receivers were drafted in the first round, and two of Ohio State's receivers were drafted on day one. (By matter of comparison.)

Quinn's TD - INT ratio was excellent, and ND never lost a game because of his bad play. ND lost because it doesn't have the top-ten talent of other schools, particularly the likes of USC, MICH, and OH ST.

Quinn will be very good to excellent in the NFL. CLE really turned around its offense.

I think you got a guy that will eventually be a good solid quarterback, and the Cowboys will gladly spend your pick next season.

I hate the Joe Thomas pick that high in the draft. I think he is good, but not worth that sort of money.

Maybe, maybe not.  (If anyone has figured out a foolproof system to project college QB's in the NFL, I'd like to meet him.)  Anyway, as I said, #22 was a reasonable place to take that gamble.  I didn't criticize the Browns for this.  I said anything HIGHER would have been a reach.

There are some pretty strong signs that people don't think next year's draft class is going to be very good.  If there were a JaMarcus Russell ready for 2008, you have to assume that the Browns wouldn't have given up next year's first-round pick.  In the draft, I think the best you can do is maneuver so that you get the guys you want--and the Browns did just that.  Who really knows how the picks are going to pan out once you've made them?  It's a violent sport.

No idea why caitlyn doesn't like Joe Thomas, by the way.  Looks like a pretty solid pick to me: he has long-term starter written all over him.  Linemen get drafted in the first round too, you know.

Everyone's got an opinion.  This roundup offers very different assessments:

AFC

NFC

In truth, it's not possible to grade a draft until at least two years after the fact.  Who knew Tom Brady was going to be Tom Brady?  Who knew Jerry Rice was going to be the best receiver who ever lived?  Who knew Tony Mandarich was going to be one of the biggest busts in history?
