YSG -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/24/2011 5:53:56 AM)

Really? Ive never seen anybody walk with one. At the very least, he should have been limping with something like that.

tazzygirl -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/24/2011 5:55:10 AM)

When they say a torn ACL, it isnt always torn completely away, or completely in two. Most times, its a tear thats about half way.

Jeffff -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/24/2011 5:56:31 AM)

The ACL stabilizes the knee. You could tear one and never have it repaired. If you want to cut or move laterally, the you would be fucked.

YSG -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/24/2011 6:02:05 AM)

idk, I still dont think he would have been walking right had he torn it. It usually causes the knee to swell up to about the size of a small melon, and it hurts like a bitch.

Jeffff -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/24/2011 6:06:33 AM)

Nicely diagnosed from your couch.

YSG -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/24/2011 6:15:28 AM)

Diagnosed from years of playing football and wrestling. Granted Im not a medical professional, but I have seen it up close and personal, thank you very much.

idk,

That much is obvious ;)

“Run him outta town” indeed. Quite apart from the contractual logistics of the thing, if he’s got them that far then I’d say he was worth keeping hold of, coz (on that showing last night) their issues aren’t limited to the QB position.

Also, post-game, in interview, Cutler looked like he’d had seven shades of shit knocked out of him – the eyes tell a story all their own.

Let's face it - none of us know. We aren't in his shoes, so speculating is pointless.

Wait and see what the clinical report says, and what they do with him for next season.

servantforuse -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/24/2011 6:33:01 AM)

About 5 years ago I partially tore my ACL. It was sore but I never new it was that bad. They found it 3 years ago when I tore my MCL.

DomImus -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/24/2011 6:50:17 AM)

In my opinion the Jets lost the AFC Championship in Foxboro. So much hype, so much talk, all of the "it's personal" stuff. It became their mini - Super Bowl because of the heated rivalry with the Pats. They shot their wad in Foxboro and didn't have enough left for the Steelers. This is what I like about Mike Tomlin. He's very consistent and even keel (not boring consistent like Mike Smith of the Falcons). He paces himself and his team.

It keeps a fan tossing and turning. It sucks to have the clock run out when the the opponent is kneeling down with the ball.

The generic description of the JETs in the 1st half is that they came out flat. I'm sure lot's of folks will be out there mining for an explanation. GB does not exactly impeach the tired argument, b/c they looked pretty bad in the second half yesterday.

The Steelers had two advantages: (1) the bye week; and (2) a home game. Throw in Rothlisberger, who makes plays galore on 3rd down -- and I'm still impressed the JETS had chances in the second half.

Great season.

The strip-sack wasn't the game.

I think it was. It turned a 14 point lead into a 21 point lead. So, even though the JETS dominated the second half, they lost.

Its a moment, time running out in the second half deep in your own territory, where a coach and QB need to gauge risk-reward, --- better maybe to run the clock out and start anew.

Mine hurt... never did swell up... was a bit unstable after walking on it for a while... it was torn half-way.

These are atheletes in damn good shape, with strong muscle tone... i would expect them to be able to walk around, but not play, or be able to move laterally.

Its best we wait till the MRI results are in before making assumptions.

Nasty :(

Plus, coming set as a QB, as well as throwing anything over about 10 yards, puts a hell of a strain on the knees.

That's my take on it, yes.

Also, just what do people think he was "scared" of? He's played enough games, and presumably got hit enough times, to know what punishment his body was going to have to soak up.

It's not like he would have got the Playoffs, stood for the National Anthem, then gone out and, first play, thought "hang on, this game hurts! I don't wanna play anymore!".

servantforuse -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/24/2011 9:49:37 AM)

The guy who sang the national anthem did one hell of a job..That guy can sing.

The Chicago Tribune is reporting that Cutler suffered a sprained MCL..

I know nothing about knees ... what's that mean in real terms?

From:

http://www.physioroom.com/injuries/knee/medial_collateral_ligament_sprain_full.php

"In the case of a second degree sprain, the pain is more severe when touched and when the ligament is stressed. There will usually be a swelling of the knee joint, but this may take 24 hours to appear. "

And:

"In the case of a first degree sprain, sporting activities should not be undertaken for about 3 weeks.

For second degree sprains, the rehabilitation period will be between 6 and 8 weeks. Rehabilitation under the supervision of a chartered physiotherapist is desirable to prevent a recurrence of the injury, which can be common if a return to sport is attempted too early."

Sounds nasty.

A little bit late here:

Congrats to the Steelers and Packers and their fans.

I've got to agree with DomImus: Ryan built this Jets team to beat the Patriots, and that's exactly what he did. Just not enough left in the tank to take it all. I have no doubt they will be contenders next season, just not sure what the team will look like. They have a ton of FA and they can't possibly re sign them all. I have serious doubts LdT will re sign. We'll see. Holmes sounded pretty upset with Shotty in his post game presser, so he's got a big question mark on his head, in my book.

I didn't see the Packers/Bears game due to family commitments, so I can't say much about that game. Only saw highlights. :(

I dunno, my friend... that Terrible Towel that came in the mail ? Do you REALLY want to use it for the big game. You're taking a risk changing up the routine. Be careful.... be very careful !! [;)]
