Yes, at least against Cleveland, lol.  That really padded his stats.

HEY, watch it :(

Fucking Browns won......in danger of fucking up and not getting the first pick in the draft so they can get Mark Ingram.....[:@]

Hillwilliam -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (10/5/2010 9:36:58 AM)

Detroit is ALWAYS a threat to get that #1 pick.

Sorry, I don't think the Browns can be dreadful to get the first pick.  That first pick belongs to the Bills, lol.

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (10/5/2010 6:22:44 PM)

The Browns have too much competition for that #1 draft spot, I agree with that assessment.  Ben returns for Cleveland!

I hope they don't "hammer this out," as the article puts it, before the Jets play'em on Monday night.

Another thing: it's starting to be clear that the AFC is way ahead of the NFC.  Definitely the top three teams in football are in the AFC, and possibly eight of the top ten.

Heard an interview with Ben talking about biting his nails during the last game. Hopefully his suspension was a wake up call.

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (10/6/2010 4:43:16 AM)

I think Ben has received his wake up call, whether anything changes is another matter.  Now, anyone got a kicker for the Steelers?

"All signs point to Moss playing his first game in his return to the Vikings on Monday night against the Jets at the New Meadowlands."

It's all rumor at this point, but I have a funny feeling we will have an answer today. And I won't be surprised if he is on the plane to Minny tonight :(.

There are rumors around here that Moss and BB had some heated words on Tues. after the Monday night win. Supposedly Moss is upset that he wasn't thrown to in the Miami game and he is being used as a " decoy" instead of catching balls.

maybemaybenot -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (10/6/2010 5:55:18 AM)

According to the rqadio here. It's official:

Randy to Minny for a 3rd rounder.

Excuse me, I have to go throw up.

Lordandmaster -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (10/6/2010 11:36:40 AM)

Jay Glazer is saying this was in the works for a long time and had nothing to do with Moss's performance on Monday night. OK. Then why the hell are they trading him? And for a third-rounder?

"If you go in and you bitch, you're out." That was Glazer's explanation. Great. Hey, Belichick, I hear that Tom Brady and Patrick Chung complained about you behind your back the other day. I think you should trade them too!

The 3rd rounder just doesn't make sense. Had he playedout the season we would have gotten a 3rd for him too.

I think there's more to it than dissing BB, LAM. There's alot of rumors about his locker room behind the scenes behavior reverting back to the old Randy. Fighting with coaches, disruptions in front of the younger new players, etc. I'm not so sure about that, cuz the NE media tends to talk trash after the fact, in regards to our sports figures.

I do know that the NFL made a call to the Pats org. after Monday nights game. Not sure if it was televised, but during the National Anthem, Randy was rallying the young players, having a little huddle " War Cry ". The NFL doesn't take that lightly. They want a clean image. He was also miked up at the time and was using the " N " word to his team mates. So while I don't believe all the rumors that he returned to his locker room cancer status, he has made some bad decisions and said some inappropriate things. And none of the issues with him, that are confirmed, are trade worthy. [:@]

That said.... I am still pissed. I got alot of love for Randy. I would love to wish him well in Minn, but I just despise Favre and that outweighs my Randy Love. [&:]

flcouple2009 -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (10/6/2010 2:01:19 PM)

How much more do you think New England could get?  I think they were lucky to get a third rounder.  Unless signed to an extension he is a free agent next year.

I don't expect him to be in Minnesota next year.  There will be a different quarterback and I don't see Randy playing well with any of the ones the Vikings have on the roster.

Minnesota at this point is desperate for someone who can stretch the field since Rice hasn't been able to play.  I would not be surprised if this is just a rental for the remainder of the season.

kdsub -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (10/6/2010 2:03:09 PM)

We've all had to work with people that are just pure posion...they destroy the harmony of the workplace... I'll bet he is one of those...or the kind that second guesses his coaches at every turn. They're not going to give him away unless there is a good reason.

I don't think we could have gotten much more, unless he was being suited by more than the Vikings. The 3rd rounder indicates to me that no one else was interested. I think BB made a BIG mistake by letting him go. If we had gotten " something " in return, maybe...

And your third sentence is the head scratcher for me. You're absolutely correct. That was his beef here, he wasn't given a contract before he became a FA. Yet he goes to Minn. facing the same situation that had him so disgruntled here, he had to have his very own presser after the opening win. He asks his agent to get him traded to Minn. where his security is no more secure than it was here..... and now he's happy. I don't get it. That's why I think there is more to this story. Whether it be that the Vikes gave him a wink and a nod that they will give him a contract when he gets there.. or something else.

Like you tho, I don't see him wanting to be with the Vikings next year. So why not stay where he was, keep to his word, that he will play out his contract and move on at years end ? < rhetorical Q > I'm well aware of the possible lockout and wanting to nail down a contract before that may happen, but that's not what he did... as far as we know.
His situation hasn't changed only his jersey. [8|]

cloudboy -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (10/6/2010 8:50:15 PM)

Top Tier WRs are few and far between, but it looks that Moss was simply not in NE's long term plans. Trading away your best players for 3rd round picks won't help your organization win, but its the NE way to trade "expensive" players and stockpile draft picks.

The Richard Seymour deal hurt them last year, and it always remains to be seen if the draft picks amount to any sort of real compensation.

One thing about the Ravens is that they do show love to their core players, but the management of any team needs to decide who that core is.

Todd Heap, Ed Reed, Terrell Suggs, Ray Lewis, and Derrick Mason have all been retained with lucrative contracts. Next up will be Ray Rice, Joe Flacco, Michael Oher, and Haloti Ngata. This list of names has largely been money well spent.

Good point. The implication is that the Moss trade was addition by subtraction for NE this year. Brian Billick said Moss had it all: speed, height, althleticism, and hands. He basically considered him a freak. In his prime, Moss could have probably boosted any NFL QB's rating by 10-15 points because of his ability to get the ball, go deep, and score TDs.

On the flip side, Anquan Boldin for the Ravens looks to be a real team player and leader and not a prima dona. Still, WRs tend to be complicated.

Lordandmaster -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (10/7/2010 1:22:02 AM)

Wait, no--if Moss left at the end of the year as an unrestricted free agent, the Patriots wouldn't have gotten any compensation for him at all.  Still, I can't see how this is a good deal for the Patriots.  Who cares if the NFL doesn't like his antics.  That's not the Patriots' problem.  And if he does anything that they can suspend him for, they don't owe him that portion of his salary.  So what gives?  Jay Glazer's explanation is the only one that makes sense to me.  "If you go in and bitch, you're out."  Sounds like a Belichick ego trip.

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (10/7/2010 1:37:32 AM)

WRs tend to be prima donnas, hence our love (hate) for them.  Moss is a huge talent.  I really thought he had turned himself around, and I think he had for a while.  I am still surprised by this trade.
