It's just lovely to see the Fleur de Lys on the side of the New Orleans Saints helmets, symbolic of French settlers in the new world! :-)

You would be shocked to know how many people who live here belive that this is the "Saints Symbol", created for the football team.
seriously!

Here is my wish,  I hope that as I type this, the Steelers are reviewing offers they have received in re their franchise QB.  I would like to see him traded, with some value, before further coeds are revealed, talking about how he takes it out and enjoys bathroom sex.

The trouble is getting value for a quarterback who's almost certainly facing some sort of suspension, the possible length of which gets longer with every new allegation. Who's going to give up more than  case of hot dogs and a 47th round draft pick for a loose cannon with terrible judgment and mounting legal issues, and who may not even play until Thanksgiving? Any team with a good enough quarterback to get through half a season without him doesn't need him badly enough to pay anything decent for him.

His value won't be set until the league makes a disciplinary decision, and that won't be until well after the draft. The Rooneys may wind up having to just dump him for a player or two and a conditional pick in next year's draft. Peanuts for a Top 5 QB in the prime of his career..

KatyLied -> RE: Super Bowl (4/17/2010 9:32:33 AM)

There are a few teams around the league with major problems at QB, I can think of one specifically that enjoys taking castoffs of any caliber.  Ben has issues, but he also has value as a franchise QB, there are not a ton of them out there.

Jeffff -> RE: Super Bowl (4/17/2010 9:42:47 AM)

He has The Raiders written all over him

slvemike4u -> RE: Super Bowl (4/17/2010 11:21:52 AM)

Re: Roethlisberger any suspension handed down by the team can be a maximum of 4 games ,which in my opinion makes the Rooney's request to the league to handle this in house self serving.Roethlisberger's statement to Rooney and revealed in Rooney's press conference is also self serving,the willingness to abide and accept such a paltry punishment is a joke.
The league needs to suspend him for  a year.....any suspension that he would "accept" is by definition too little.
   Best case scenario the league comes down with a year....Roethlisberger  and  the union fight the suspension ( which they would surely do....his contrition does not stretch that far)...and lose.Thereby settine the standard that the league has teeth in their "moral turpitude" clause...and they are willing and able to use them...even if you are a franchise QB.

KatyLied -> RE: Super Bowl (4/17/2010 11:55:18 AM)

The team and NFL league have to abide by the union contract when handing down punishment .  The maximum he can get is a 4 game suspension.  I do not know about the personal monetary fine that can be levied, from what I have read, it is expected that the team will have a fine in the area of $200,000, on behalf of Ben & Holmes.  It is hard for me to see the Steeler's retaining the public's goodwill as long as Ben is on the team.  It is a pattern of disturbing behavior,

At least this is overshadowing Jerry Jones being caught on tape talking shit about Bill Parcells.

Oh, did y'all see what Bret Precious did for his Viking teamates? New Wrangler jeans for them all!

Come on draft day!

KatyLied -> RE: Super Bowl (4/17/2010 12:05:31 PM)

Yeah, getting drunk and being filmed, not too classy,  sighs.  Seems to be a lot of people having problems with alcohol.

Sorry Katy but your information is flawed...yes ,if the team suspends him the max is 4 games...but Goodel and the League.....hell they can ban him if they so choose....They would lose thatt in a heartbeat at court,,,but believe me they can certainly give him a year and they could stand a chance of actually winning the appeal the union and Ben would file.

KatyLied -> RE: Super Bowl (4/17/2010 12:16:25 PM)

Evidently tons of analysts do not know what they are talking about.

slvemike4u -> RE: Super Bowl (4/17/2010 1:05:39 PM)

Katy the analysts might be speculating on what the league will do as opposed to what the league can do.Case in point PacMan Jones suspended for a year....steroid violators get 4 games as per the union contract...which spells out a specific ,graduated suspension time table for each offence....Moral turpitude has no such graduated timetable....the league can and IMO should sit this dirt bag for a year.
  Again and IMO any suspension Ben accepts without a fight is too little.The league needs to have a test case on something like this...a clear violation of the clause in question that at the same time is absent any actual criminal charges.They suspend Ben for a year...and make it stick....now you are talking real deterrence to the next mutt who wants to act out.If they do so to a franchise QB...beleive me they will get the attention of all of the players.

KatyLied -> RE: Super Bowl (4/17/2010 3:53:21 PM)

I think it would make a great test case.  I love the Steelers, but I'd rather see them struggle through  a season of seeing what Dennis Dixon can do than to see Ben in a Steelers uniform.  I have no daughters, if I did I would find all of this stuff even worse than I already do.  He is being paid the big bucks to be a leader, not to run around plying coeds with drinks and letting his, erm, equipment hang out.  And I think you are correct, the discussions are definitely on what will probably happen, not what could happen, as far as punishment.  And Terry Bradshaw made a lot of sense this week,

slvemike4u -> RE: Super Bowl (4/17/2010 5:36:41 PM)

You know what Katy,I have no daughters either...but the other night talking to Michael(my son who is about to graduate NYU...see "a chance to brag thread."..lol)on the phone we discussed what Goodel might do .I expressed the feeling to my son ,and made sure he understood what I was saying,that something like this is little better than an actual beat the shit out of the woman rape.The difference between the two is negligible....and only incrementally so.
Taking advantage of anyone so inebriated so as to be incapable of consent is beyond disgusting...especially given Roethlisberger's obvious ready supply of willing and sober woman
A year at the least....or else it is bullshit.

KatyLied -> TRADE BIG BEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (4/17/2010 6:08:02 PM)

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/380021-pittsburgh-should-trade-ben-roethlisberger-to-dallas-for-tony-romo

Opinion piece, especially for Level! [:D]

slvemike4u -> RE: TRADE BIG BEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (4/17/2010 6:26:52 PM)

I could actually see Jones importing this sleaze bag...of course even Jones would want to wait to see what Goodell does first,the man (Jones) is crazy....not stupid.

tazzygirl -> RE: TRADE BIG BEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (4/18/2010 5:38:22 AM)

Isnt there a limit on the number of concussions they can sustain and still be on a team?

slvemike4u -> RE: TRADE BIG BEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (4/18/2010 8:23:28 AM)

Okay tazz....you lost me....and I'm pretty smart [:)].
Modest too [:)]
