In sort of related news...Lane Kiffin accepts the USC job; Jack Del Rio remains at Jacksonville, Peter Carroll escapes the claws of the NCAA.

As a fan of the Chicago Bears all I can say is........ pitchers and catchers report in 6 weeks!

My sporting year will live and die with my beloved  White Sox!

As you all were.

Yes, yes, he did, he said a chance to return to USC was da bomb.  Or something to that effect, taking his dad and other staff with him too, as is customary.

Heh heh...

The Vols are hatin', but I think he'll do a hell of a job at USC, especially with his dad, and Ed Orgeron; might even make them forget Carroll.

Yeah, I was screaming at the "officials" the entire game.  Not so much dirty players, as refs with 'late christmas bonuses' I'm thinking.

Oh no....it *was* the dirty play. I've seen it time and again from the cardinals. It's amazing really. I've seen heavily penalized teams....but the cardinals are the only team I have seen consistently get away with *serious* penalties (that even make highlight reels) that are not called by the refs. Hell, when they played Dallas last year, they broke our QB *and* our punter. Broke the punter's leg in THREE PLACES on a punt play and yet *somehow* it wasn't roughing the kicker.

They BROKE a KICKER'S LEG in THREE PLACES with no call. It's simply amazing how they can get away with that.

There IS some serious hating going on in Knoxville now.  He had to ride home from the press conference he called to announce his job change. (all 2 minutes of it with no questions accepted) in the back of a police car.

I just dont see throwing that much $ at someone that sucked with the Raiders for a year and then was 7-6 as a college coach.  Damn shame he couldnt have left Monte though.  That hurts more than Lane leaving.

He is an unproven entity and it surprises me that USC hired him, what with its NCAA problems and Kiffin's NCAA issues while in Tennessee.

Kiffin totally screwed the Vols. He even promised some recruit that he would stay there for as long as he was at the school and the recruits family moved to Knoxville! To make it worse now Kiffin is trying to recruit the same guy to SC! I hope he's a complete fail (which isn't that much of a stretch) It wouldn't even matter, the PAC 10 is a horrible conference anyway. That's the only reason USC is ranked half the time is because of the conference they're in.

PS...How 'bout dem Cowboys! lol

I do believe Kiffin had every intention on staying in Knoxville.  Whey else would he name his son "Knox"?  I think the USC job may be his dream job.  It is difficult to turn down a dream job, even if means disappointing some parents and recruits.  He may have a major fail because he is not proven material.

All these people complaining about Kiffin, would quit their own jobs in a heart beat for a better job.

USC is a MUCH better job than Tenn. He may or may not be a weasel and so far he doesn't look like much of a coach. But we'd all do what he did.

"Hello Jeff?, We would like to offer you more money, better weather and an almost unlimited supply of high quality talent"

" Ummmm no thanks"

Sure

Jeff

Well if you are convicted enough to name your son Knox I would have hoped Tennessee would have been his dream job. Now he just looks like an idiot, no doubt if kids find out the story they'll give his son a hard time about it. For the record though I think Knox is a pretty cool name :p

I heard this on the radio this morning.... Tenn. is like a woman who is a 7 but thinks she's a 9.5.

USC IS a 9.5.  Easier schedule, easier recruiting. It is a great job.  Tenn. can not compete year in and year out in that conference. USC can dominate in theirs

Yeah, his name is Monte Knox Kiffin, but the parents said they would be calling him "Knox".

I'd just say that most would bail for a higher paying, more talent laden job, unless the job they were at were indeed their dream job. Fulmer, for instance, would not have left Tennessee for anywhere else, I doubt.

By the way, I hate spelling Tennessee, and Cincinnati.

edited to add: will the Kiffins name their next kid Troy?
