when did the colts move? i thought they moved around that time anyway

As a Baltimorean, this is karma coming home to roost for DEN, who obtained John Elway in a similar fashion from the Colts in 1983. Back then the Colts got Chris Hinton and Marc Herman for Elway. At the time, Elway forced his way out of BAL because he did not want to play for Frank Kush (who was fired in the next season.)

Elway went on to multiple Super Bowl Appearances, and the Colts went into the lottery tank for years on end.

DEN is a much better organization than the Colts were then, but there are parallel dangers in play. For instance, suppose DEN drafts Mark Sanchez and he flames out. DEN would be set back for years. On the other hand if DEN can find a replacement, they come out ahead.

CHI won the Cutler sweepstakes. Losing Cutler and Shanahan for an unknown coach and draft picks puts DEN into unknown territory. CHI is the immediate winner of the trade.

Nope.  We in Denver are damn used to this territory.  It's called mediocrity.

Axing Shanahan was necessary - the post-Elway Broncos have always been staffed with good players who didn't cohere and play to their potentials.  That's squarely the coach's job.

But without Cutler, we're gonna have a rebuilding year or two.

Cutler screwed himself,  He's going to find a worse QB situation in Chicago than in Denver, as well as a more critical fan base.

Does Chicago have an offense of any note?  When was the last time they did?  They depend on special teams and defense.  Cutler has made an unfortunate choice, I think his agent had much to do with this fiasco.  sigh.  Immaturity.

Draft day, at any rate.  There was a story on SI noting that if you are desperate to know the picks before they are announced, follow your team's twitter.

And the drama continues: http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d81041bde&template=without-video-with-comments&confirm=true

About 5 years ago or so I had loads of respect for Mr. Favre, but now I just wish he'd go away. This endless routine of maybe retiring, retiring, asking for release, un-retiring ad nauseum is getting old.

On a different note, how do you feel your team did with the draft and associated deals? While I was hoping the Steelers would try to move up in the first round to get one of the top OL guys I'm overall fairly pleased.

Chicago has one of the premier running backs in the game with Forte, not to mentioned a greatly improved O line. We'll see what a QB with an arm can do for their receivers.

Adrian Peterson - 2008 1,885 yards 10 TD's
Matt Forte        - 2008 1,715 yards 12 TD's
And now Chicago has a Quarterback and an improved O line

So Mike Vick is apparently out of the NFL's doghouse. I am absolutely appalled at that. So much for the commissioner's policy of taking a hard line approach to protect the image of the NFL.

"Appalled" is putting it mildly.... I am absolutely infuriated about it. I hope whatever team is stupid enough to sign him gets all sorts of shit and flak from their fans. How many times over the years have we had to sit and watch the NFL public service announcements bragging about what role models their players are, how much good they do, how they give back to their communities?  What has Vick given back? Blood? Violence? He sure hasn't given the NFL something to brag about....

Minnesota might make an offer to Michael Vick, it was announced today that Brett Favre will STAY RETIRED and will not play for the Vikings....but the possibility now is that they will be the Vickings

There's worse players on the field today than Michael Vick.  Just saying.

As a Packer fan, that would be like having 2 Christmases in one week. First, that idiot Favre has thrown the Vikings into even more disarray and turmoil than they were already in, and now to have them hire Vick to ride in and run them even further into the ground while he trashes the remainder of his own career - man, that would be too good to be true. If the worthless sonofabitch is going to play anywhere, please, god, let it be the Vikings. Please!

Yeah, if Dallas were to pick him up, I might actually stop following them, but Jerry has gotten rid of some "issues" so I don't see him bringing in asshat Vick.

And no more Jessica Simpson to distract Romo!

I feel another SB ring is in our future...

Dallas got rid of it's very own probation officer? AND their parole officer?  WOW, they must really be cleaning house!    *winks*
