That's an interesting thought, Katy. The question I would ask is since you said "alleged murderers", were they actually convicted or evidence found? There was more than enough evidence to try and convict Vick in addition to a confession. (And T.U., a pipe in the knee is too nice and pleasant - I can think of, errrrrr, other things to do to Vick.) I would prefer that Vick not be placed back into a high profile, high income position where he could perhaps repeat the past. (Yes, I'm an animal lover and his crimes shocked me, I admit that.) If he doesn't see the wrong in what he did, then what's to stop him from doing it again?

As for T.O. signing with Buffalo, oh dear Lord, it's going to be interesting. The Bills are the local team here since Buffalo is right across the border from us. Hey, Katy, I get to hate him in person now!   Ohhhhh, the conversations this is going to start with my in-laws!

At least the Bills were bright enough to not sign him to a multi-year contract. So apparently TO has to work fast to get his full act in. It begs the question of whether he'll hold out to try to renegotiate a better contract this year LOL. We could have a betting pool on how soon he'll blow up at a coach on the sideline, when he'll begin running down Trent Edwards, etc. This could be fun to watch.

Rain - the charges were dismissed in a plea bargain, and money was paid to victims families, I am talking about Ray Lewis.

Keerist ! I'm having a nightmarish daydream in which I am lying out by the pool on a Sunday afternoon while hearing the shrieks and curses of a gaggle of women who care about and are watching a pro football game in my living room. I miss the days when women only commented on the butts at the line of scrimmage and used to ask "are our guys in the white or the purple uniforms?". It just ain't natchural !

But they are women who are fun to hang out with on Sundays, during football season.  Imagine, watching tv all day, plus having someone serve you the snacks, who is actually interested in the game.  Fun times.

Now....If you wanna hit Michael Vick in the knees with a pipe - I'll join in on the fun

He's awful.  But his story does bring some interesting dialog.  Once he serves his time, do we "forgive" him and support him as he returns to his career?  There have been worse offenders (alleged murderers) who are enjoying great careers in the league.

I'll give a guy a second chance when it comes to dog fighting after he's paid his debt.....but taking part in torturing the dogs by drowning them and breaking their necks is something I cannot forgive.

Personally, I hope the commish suspends Vick after he's released. If he's not suspended, then I hope there's a PETA protest at whatever team's headquarters who signs him.

I have a hard time believing fans will forgive Michael Vick very easily.

(He was also vastly overrated as a football player, but that's beside the point.)

I think it will be tough for Vick to re-enter the NFL, I can't see it happening successfully.

If nothing else, the enforced absence from the game might have dire consequences on his on field performance....for the rest of it ,while I believe in second chances....I do not believe one is owed a second bite of this particular apple

Crikeys!! Purple uniforms? Ya a Vikings fan or sumpin? (My dad had a friend that was such a devoted Vikings fan that he deliberately bought a car in Minnesota's team colours! That was one huge-assed PURPLE beastie!)

And it's perfectly natchural when yer brought up living and breathing football, especially if it's the only way to get yer dad to talk with you on Sundays. I developed a deep love for the game, especially once I understood it. Besides, like Katy said, wouldn't it be more fun to have someone to talk to about it rather than just little comments about tushes?

I associate purple with Baltimore.

And about men and football, I find it sexy to have a guy talk to me about football and educate me, I don't know every nuance of strategy and sometimes need to have it explained to me.  If he wants to grab while he talks, all the better.

Yeah.  And they all want perform service when I'd prefer to watch the game.

I thought that was what half-time was for.

I grew up and lived in Chicago for quite a while, so I was a Bears fan. However, I've come to prefer the college games to the pros, for a number of reasons. Thankfully, they have half-time too.

I've tried to get into college football, but I'm just not feeling it.  I should pay more attention because of the draft.   I usually watch the BCS national champ game, but that's it.

Meh, BCS just pisses me off. As a Boise State Broncos fan (raised right outside Boise), it just doesn't seem fair to not let a top team play against bigger teams just because we're not in the right conference even when ranked #9 in the BCS. If we have the skills, players and team to be so good as to be in the top 10 in the polls and ranked nationally by the BCS, why the dickens can't we play the similarly ranked teams?

The BCS is a funny thing
Last year, right as the whole debate was going on about whether Utah should be in the national championship game cuz they were undefeated
I was out west skiing
spent a day skiing with a kid who played Defensive back for utah
mid you, this was the week of the BCS championship
and on one of the runs I asked him
(I hadda)
I said, "Would you guys be able to play with USC or Florida?
To his eternal credit
He said...
"They would kill us."
