He is the ultimate locker room poison.  We may see a more relaxed Romo this season.  Although it depends on how much damage has been done there.  I think Dallas needs a stronger coach, less involved ownership in the locker room.

Rainfire -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (3/6/2009 7:50:01 AM)

[sm=lol.gif]  Ya know, Katy, it's impossible to argue with you when you're right. It will be interesting to see Romo's performance without the Drama Queen of the NFL on the team. Now if Jones will just let Phillips do his job.... And if you look at the Dallas site, they mention T.O.'s release under the title "Spring Cleaning: Cowboys officially release Owens".  Ahhhhh, the irony of it! [:)]

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (3/6/2009 8:41:06 AM)

Yeah, I will admit that Dallas is not my favorite team, but it seems blessed with some big talent, yet last year was a disaster.  Much of it was the Romo-Witten-T.O. situation, which although good drama, you could see the team falling apart and it had to have been awful to be Romo in that situation.

MsFlutter -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (3/6/2009 8:42:10 AM)

Now you have to wonder if any team will be impaired enough to sign T.O.....

Rainfire -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (3/6/2009 8:51:55 AM)

[>:]  I truly hope not but Dallas picked him up even after the fiascos of SF and Philly. Who knows, maybe somebody like Detroit would think he's worth the risk.

Ooooooo, just found this List of NFL Teams that DON'T want T.O.!!! [:D]

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (3/6/2009 9:55:10 AM)

I think it will be Tampa or the Raiders or the Redskins, they have been mentioned as possibilities.  His agent thinks he will be signed to a new team next week, although he won't disclose who's in on the talks.  It would be fun to see him stay in that conference (Redskins), because there is so much fan dislike for him.

You gotta be careful about denials, they aren't always accurate.

TahoeSadist -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (3/7/2009 6:24:32 AM)

Depending on the cap situation, I suspect the Raiders, Browns, maybe Bears and Broncos could be interested.

Rainfire -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (3/7/2009 6:33:46 AM)

All the stories I've seen on this seem to indicate the strongest possibility is the Redskins. Personally, considering his history and the damage he does, I don't see how any team would want to sign him but that's their business. If they want the team to go to hell in a handbasket for the hope that he will help win games, so be it on their heads. T.O. will be T.O. and stir the pot anywhere he goes with his paranoia and delusions of grandeur. But whoever signs him won't get a drop of sympathy from me. [:'(]

(Now the poor teammate that T.O. starts claiming is after him or trashtalking, maybe.....)

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (3/7/2009 7:15:11 AM)

He'll likely ruin whatever team he goes to.  Unless the team is strong and the coach even stronger.  His track record is ruination.  I still can't get over the way Big D imploded at the end of the season.  Although we all knew it would happen sooner or later.

A well-placed source said the 49ers' interest in signing Owens could be reduced to one word: "No." Nevertheless, general manager Scot McCloughan said Thursday morning on KNBR that "We don't close any doors" when the subject of the 35-year-old Owens was broached. He didn't say the door was open for Owens, however.
I can't believe the 49ers are in the conversation.

Actually, his track record is to be pretty cooperative (and very productive) for the first two years...and THEN comes the ruination.

So a team that thinks it's close to contending and has a short-term window might be persuaded to take him.  The added hitch is that he is starting to age.

Hi LAM!  Yes, you are correct, in the short-term, he could provide an answer for specific problems.  I think he's not worth the risk, just my opinion, but I will be happy when he lands somewhere and we can sit back and enjoy the drama.  Cause that's how I am.

Rainfire -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (3/7/2009 9:37:53 AM)

[:-]  Drama???? What drama? T.O. is the most peaceable, loving receiver in the NFL......  [sm=rofl.gif][sm=rofl.gif][sm=rofl.gif][sm=rofl.gif]

He signed with Buffalo.
anticlimactic

Well.....I can see why a genuine Eagles fan wouldn't like him as he didn't do much for Philly. I like him though.... but then again I like hard-heads like Haynesworth and Ron Artest, too.

TO gave my Niners some great years...and although the end was tough with the locker room/on field altercations with the likes of Jeff Garcia - you did not hear about TO beating-up his wife, driving a Ferrari while intoxicated at 100 miles per hour, or bringing a gun into a night club. He never got in trouble with law like so many do now.....and I appreciate him for that.

He's just a guy with a real quirky personality.....And Lam's prolly right : After two years it's prolly time to re-evaluate. Hell....If Lynch can stay healthy and outa trouble, I think the Bills might get over the hump this year...

Naw......you women need to show more love to TO [;)]

Too much of his bad publicity is just over-sensationalization and extended media hype....

Now....If you wanna hit Michael Vick in the knees with a pipe - I'll join in on the fun.

He's awful.  But his story does bring some interesting dialog.  Once he serves his time, do we "forgive" him and support him as he returns to his career?  There have been worse offenders (alleged murderers) who are enjoying great careers in the league.
