Well, I went 1-3 this weekend (like most of America).  When the Eagles knocked off the Giants today, I was thinking, Oh no, we're going to have an all 8-8 Super Bowl!  But now I'm thinking we're going to have an all Pennsylvania Super Bowl.

Well, so far I am 7 out of 8 in my pics

Here we go STEELERS here we go !

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/11/2009 6:07:41 PM)

Wow, the Steelers looked great tonight, returning to running the football and controlling the clock, Ben was outstanding in taking care of the ball, Willie Parker is back, it's the way they should always play.  And good practice for next week when we host our biggest rival.  Be prepared for hard hits and many personal fouls.

Fuck.  Those poor Giants.  I wanted them to win so badly.
But......since they lost I won a bet.  Heh
Get those hands warmed up Wind.  You owe me a mega foot massage.

Oddsmakers choose Philly & Steelers for SB

I am seriously interested in statistics regarding teams who play 3 times in one season.
Pittsburgh has beaten Baltimore twice this season, and I wonder about the likelihood of doing it three times.

I shot my wad with Carolina.....

Whisenhunt really game-planned em'

Delhomme played about as good as J.T. O'Sullivan.

You could tell by the look on Steve Smith's face, just minutes before the first half ended that Carolina just didn't have the juice for a second half comeback.

The Steelers are the best team in football right now and in my mind are the heavy favorite to win the Super Bowl. They have the best outside LBs in the NFL along with Polamalu. Hines Ward and Santonio Holms are dangerious and Willie Parker looks healthy.

I am rooting for AZ to make it to the Super Bowl because I love Kurt Warner and Larry Fitzgerald. I also like the fact that everyone wrote them completely off after NE annihilated them.

BAL could upset PITT, and I think the game promises to be close and hard fought. Cam Cameron, BAL's offensive coordinator, he's going have to use some imagination to make the Ravens offense more productive than it has been. I don't see PITT coughing up the ball 4x like TENN did.

I'm not even thinking of the SB yet.  I'm looking forward to Ravens-Steelers.  That should be a good game.

Public bountys, hard hits, mutual hate, rookie QB in the playoffs....does football get any better?

TahoeSadist -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/13/2009 7:00:40 AM)

Not much of a surprise: http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d80e1178c&template=with-video-with-comments&confirm=true

"INDIANAPOLIS -- Tony Dungy has retired after seven years as coach of the Indianapolis Colts, saying this was the right moment."

It's been a nice career, Tony enjoy retirement.

I can no longer keep track of new GMs and coaches.

I will be awaiting word on what happens with the Titans in regard to Collins vs. Young.

History shows that NFL teams like the Steelers, who have the home field advantage in a playoff game and who are playing a division rival whom they've beaten 2x already --- those teams have a 9-4 record.

Hence the probability is a team will beat another team 3x in a row under such circumstances.

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/14/2009 8:42:47 AM)

Thank you.
I know it has to be rare for a teams to meet 3 times in one season.

Dnomyar -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/14/2009 9:13:23 AM)

I see that the Detroit Lions are ready to make a bunch of dumbass choices again. Why did'nt they fire the to fuck heads in charge instead of promoting them.

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/14/2009 1:07:46 PM)

Heh, I thought they did that mid-season....

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/15/2009 6:27:07 AM)

Hines Ward "most hated" man in Baltimore

TahoeSadist -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/15/2009 6:50:01 AM)

Yes you have to love Hines Ward, he plays the game with a passion normally found in Steeler linebackers like Jack Lambert, Greg Loyd, and Kevin Greene. He and Troy Polamalu are my two favorite players, which is a departure for me since my favorites are generally running backs, and particularly fullbacks, having grown up with Rocky Bleier, Franco, Merrill Hoge, Jerome "The Bus" Bettis, and Dan Krieder. Don't get me wrong, I liked other Steelers wideouts, obviously Swann, Stallworth, and Lipps, but they're recievers and generally not bruising types. Likewise with DB's with the notable exceptions of Woodson, Lake, and Shell, I always kinda liked having them, but didn't really love them.

It would be interesting to hear what guys from the great Steelers teams of the past would say, but I think that Troy and Hines would fit in well with the old-school teams from back in the day when you were actually allowed to play defense.
