Maybe the Giants will play all 4 quarters of the SB against the Pats, we know their defense sat out the 4th q in their last meeting.

Boy, who would have figured that the Giants would have outplayed the Packers in Lambeau? At least now I can root all out for New England to win the Super Bowl. Brett Favre winning it one last time would have been tough to root against.
I have to give a big salute to the Chargers as well. They overcame injuries, a poor start, and most importantly a lousy head coach to get to the championship game.

Part of its coaching and adjustments. When Farve was struggling, the team didn't seem to have any other options. The Giants eliminated the screen pass and kept the dump off passes to a minimum. When Brady was struggling, NE used dump-offs, screens, draws, and sweeps with great effectiveness.

The ball also bounced the Giants way, literally on all those fumbles (for the most part.)

As the game set up, its no suprise the Packers lost by Farve trying to force the ball into coverage on a cold, windy night.

------

Not only is SD stacked, but I also think they are $33M under the salary cap. Would be kind of funny and interesting if they plucked Randy Moss away from NE.

Hungover...Last night was a blast even with the loss.  Going in to do a little work....

There is no God.

BitchGoddessD -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/21/2008 12:05:23 PM)

It wasn't a bad dream after all [:'(]  Yep Farve did try to force it at the end.  The Giants seem to be very good at rattling quarterbacks.  I thought Farve was beyond those mistakes but guess not.  I'll still welcome him back for another year.  So many penalties too.  Good luck Giants in the Superbowl.  I hope they beat the Patriots.  NFC all the way.

Oh no!  You did this multi-colored shit for Rutgers last year, and they ended up getting smoked.

The Giants outplayed the Packers, yes, and they're obviously doing something right, since they still don't have an offensive turnover in the playoffs.  But the Packers have themselves to blame too.  It was a mixture of a bad game plan, bad play-calling, and ole Brett trying to force passes again.  Both interceptions were his own stupid fault.

Why the HELL did the Packers abandon the running game?  I know that Grant wasn't doing all that great, but he ripped off a 13-yard gain at one point, and they hardly went back to him after that.  You've got to try running the ball more than 12 times in a game (or whatever it was), ESPECIALLY when you're not losing.  They went into panic mode for no reason.  When the Packers got the ball back with about 2:30 left in the game and the score tied at 20, I was positive they would run the ball, eat up the clock, and see if they could gain just enough yardage for a long field goal on the last play of the game.  No, they had to throw the ball all over the field and punt it away again with enough time for the Giants to set up a field-goal attempt of their own.  That's when Tynes missed his second one of the game, and the Packers should have lost the game right there for being morons in the play-calling department.

The Chargers have without a doubt the most talented defense in the NFL, but their offense is inconsistent and relies too heavily on two stars.  (I don't know what the hell was going on with LT, by the way; it was weird to see him standing there on the sidelines all game long with his coat and visor.)  Anyway, if Rivers plays as well next year as he showed he could in the playoffs, they're going to be an outstanding team.  If he keeps crapping in the bed every once in a while, as I kind of expect, they're not going to have much of a chance with all the other great teams in the AFC.

SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers said Monday that he had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee a week ago in order to play in the AFC championship game, and that he'll need surgery on the torn anterior cruciate ligament in the same joint.

Rivers made it through Sunday's 21-12 loss to the perfect New England Patriots despite the damage to his knee, which he sustained in an upset win over the Indianapolis Colts a week earlier.

Rivers said he'd like to have surgery as soon as possible on the torn ACL.

O, and according to Caitlyn, Giants fans need to thank Jessica Simpson.

To be honest with you, Tony Romo was one of the few Cowboys on offense, that I thought played well against the Giants ... him, along with Jason Witten and Marion Barber. Romo had two sure touchdowns dropped, and the play before the final Cowboy play of the season, was one of those magic, evade the rush, last second game winning throws ... and shit talking Patrick Crayton stopped running on that play. One lazy dude with a big mouth, was the difference between, "Tony can't get it done.", and "Tony, a legend in the making."

The Giants just might make this a great game ... and the Patriots don't look as good as they did earlier in the season. My NFL predictions this year, should probably get me put in probation ... but:

Giants 31
Patriots 30

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/21/2008 2:26:32 PM)

Well I guess we can't call Phillip Rivers a wimp.
Does everyone realize that the Giants have set a record for consecutive away game wins.

Tony Dungy is staying with the Colts at least one more year:

INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis Colts head coach Tony Dungy will return to the team through at least the 2008 season, he announced at a news conference Monday.

"It was a family decision," Dungy said. "We're on board, and we look forward to '08, look forward to putting together a winner."

The Colts were also pleased to confirm the head coach would return, although they said questions surrounding his status with the team was nothing new.

"This has gone on for the past three years," team president Bill Polian said.

BOLD PREDICTION

The Patriots offense has had a solution for every defense out there. Also, the Patriots redzone offense has been superior to their opponents. A Patriots FG is akin to an opponents punt, and an opponent's FG is akin to a Patriots TD.

These odds and trends are foreboding to Giants fans.

Seems to me either SD or IND could have run the table in the NFC.

Must say, though, that I'm rooting for Manning. If he's in the zone, if Plexico shows up, if the Giants win the turnover battle, and if the Giants can sack Brady, they have a chance.

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/21/2008 2:50:57 PM)

The Giants better hope their kicker sucks less at the SB.
I think Archie will cry.
