I see Super Bowl XLII being a repeat of Super Bowl XXXV for the Giants.  They are going to be on the receiving end of an ass-kicking fiesta by another AFC juggernaut.  In 2001, the Ravens kicked the ever-living shit out of the Giants...this year, they get to face the most prolific offense in NFL history.  While the Giants played them very close at the end of the season, something tells me that it won't be close this time.  Belichick will have the Pats ready with some new stuff.  Little Opie will have a poor game and the Giants lose again...and big!  Patriots 41, Giants 17.

Sometimes this season it looked to me like anyone could beat anyone, all depending on who was having a good day.

Of course, the Pats almost always looked like a Superbowl-bound team, but even they had some near misses

At no point this season did I ever imagine that the Giants would go to the Super Bowl.

Shows you what a hot QB, a stout DL, and weak conference can do for you.

I saw the Giants in preseason v. the Ravens, and Eli Manning looked damn good to me. On HBO's INSIDE THE NFL, those guys all just feel Manning needs the support personnel to succeed.

Now maybe Tiki will shut up for good.

O, and according to Caitlyn, Giants fans need to thank Jessica Simpson.

Jessica Simpson is Satan. The Cowboys beat the Packers and the Giants this year and they will be watching the Super Bowl from home. I'm convinced more than ever that there is no God because there is no justice...(sighs...)

Boy, who would have figured that the Giants would have outplayed the Packers in Lambeau? At least now I can root all out for New England to win the Super Bowl. Brett Favre winning it one last time would have been tough to root against.
I have to give a big salute to the Chargers as well. They overcame injuries, a poor start, and most importantly a lousy head coach to get to the championship game.

Yeah, I'd be leery of the Chargers come next year; they almost got to the Super Bowl without the benefits of the best RB and best TE in the NFL. Tomlinson and Gates come back 100%, watch out....

Woohoo!!!!    Go Giants!!!

KatyLied -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/21/2008 6:47:56 AM)

Okay, it's the next day.  And it's still weird that the Giants are going to the SB, to have their asses kicked by the Pats.

givingin -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/21/2008 7:18:08 AM)

The next morning and it all seems like a dream.  I don't know what happened last night.  I do know it wasn't the Packers I have seen playing in the past.  It's almost like it was being given to them when the FG was missed, that one extra chance, but they gave it right back.  I don't understand because I know they wanted it, I guess the Giants just wanted it more.

[:o]Still sad this morning[:o] and trying to figure out who I want to win the SB.  I don't like either team, and hopefully the NFL gods will forgive me when I say that I don't even know if I want to watch at all this year.

Chances are I will though.  I can't pass up any excuse to eat hot wings all day while vegging out in front of that large lcd screen[;)]

I like Favre, don't get me wrong, but every post-season it's all about will he return?  will he retire?  It's getting old, okay?

Aileen1968 -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/21/2008 7:56:07 AM)

Yay Giants!!!!!

WEXFORD, Pa. (AP) - The girlfriend of Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Cedrick Wilson was arrested Sunday after a nearly 12-hour standoff at Wilson's home that led to the evacuation of about 70 neighbors, police said.
Lindsey Paulat, 26, of Tarentum, was charged with aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person, KDKA-TV reported.

Bad link, bad [sm=crop.gif]

Here's the rest of it, Katy:

quote:

Robert Amman of the Northern Regional Police Department told the television station that the standoff began a few hours after an argument Saturday morning between Wilson and Paulat. Wilson left his Pine Township home about noon and Paulat's mother came to talk to her.

While her mother was there, Paulat fired two shots from Wilson's handgun into a wall, police said. No one was injured.

Paulat's mother left and police were called around 1 p.m.; neighbors were later evacuated as a precaution. The standoff ended when Paulat threw the gun from the front door, police said.

She was taken into custody about 12:45 a.m. Sunday.

Amman said that Paulat initially only wanted to talk to Wilson. Wilson returned about 5 p.m., but did not speak to Paulat.

"She was extremely upset and not being forthcoming with us initially, so it took some time to get through to her,"

Amman said.   Wilson, 29, was not available for comment, but Steelers spokesman Dave Lockett said Wilson was fine.
