Don't book your trip to Arizona quite yet if you are a Patriots fan.
I don't want to hear about a dominating 38-14 victory over San Diego in Week 2 or the point spread for the AFC Championship game.

The Chargers, simply because of their defense, have a realistic shot to compete with the Patriots.    Seriously.

IRVING, Texas (AP) - Sitting in the atrium of Dallas Cowboys headquarters, at the same table where Wade Phillips, Bill Parcells and several predecessors have given their daily briefings for years, Jason Garrett felt comfortable right away.
"I just want to start by saying I'm awfully excited to be sitting in this chair," Garrett said.

No, Garrett wasn't being introduced as Phillips' replacement. He was merely explaining Thursday why he decided to pull out of consideration for coaching jobs with Baltimore and Atlanta to remain offensive coordinator in Dallas.

Guess we will never know if it would have been 0-10....Poor, poor, lil' Level.

As you watch the Packers destroy the Patriots come Super Bowl Sunday...I can just see you sitting in your favorite chair, naked, clutching and creepily stroking a Cowboy's blanket continually repeating over and over..."But they are 0-9..But they are 0-9...But they are 0-9."

Merril Hoge didn't go so far as to say the Chargers can beat the Pats but he seems to think they have good matchups when the Chargers are on defense.

I do want to see how Moss fairs against Cromartie. All Cromartie's done this year is lead the league in picks.

LUMBERTON, Texas (AP) - Ernie "Fats" Holmes, who won two Super Bowls as an anchor of Pittsburgh's famed "Steel Curtain" defense in the 1970s, died in a car crash. He was 59.
Holmes was driving alone Thursday night when his car left the road and rolled several times near Lumberton, about 80 miles from Houston, a Texas Department of Public Safety dispatcher said Friday.

This happened quite near to where I live. He was a tough SOB.

ATLANTA (AP) - Georgia football great Herschel Walker has multiple personalities — a revelation in an upcoming book that surprises the man who coached the 1982 Heisman Trophy winner. That's all news to me," former Georgia coach Vince Dooley said in Friday editions of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "All I know is whatever personality he had when he had the football was the one I liked."  "Breaking Free" will chronicle Walker's life with multiple personality disorder, according to Shida Carr, a publicist at Simon & Schuster.

And I see the Ravens hired Philly assistant coach John Harbaugh as their new head coach.

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Georgia Frontiere, the St. Louis native who became a hometown hero when she brought the NFL's Rams from Los Angeles in 1995, died Friday. She was 80.

Frontiere had been hospitalized for breast cancer for several months, the Rams said in a statement posted on their Web site.

"Our mom was dedicated to being more than the owner of a football team," daughter Lucia Rodriguez and son Chip Rosenbloom said in the statement.

"She loved the Rams' players, coaches, and staff. The warmth and generosity she exuded will never be forgotten."

No hottie is going to hex Eli Manning during the biggest game of his career -- he's made sure of that.
The Giant quarterback has told his college sweetheart and fiancee, Abby McGrew, to get layered up for tonight's bitter-cold playoff game in Green Bay -- because she has to brave the elements and suffer through the action from stadium seats if he's going to win.

Eli believes he's jinxed when McGrew watches his games from the cozy warmth of a stadium suite, Manning's oldest brother, Cooper, told The Post.    Those times McGrew has watched her man play from a suite, the Jints have lost.

Please don't.  "Who are you bulls*******?" retired Packers guard Jerry Kramer told FOXSports.com in a telephone interview. "It's colder than hell out there! Really cold!

I hope so, she's gotta hope her genetics can overcome that freakishly high forehead thing that runs in the family.

Yeah, I'll be pulling for them Sunday. I almost bought a share of the team, for $200, back in 1997 [X(]; for extending my support this year, they should gift me with one.

I've got my share framed and on the wall.  [:D]  Go Pack!

I'm envious [;)] Though a die-hard Cowboys fan, I have a huge amount of respect for the Packers and their history.

domiguy -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/20/2008 2:08:21 PM)

I think I can speak for everyone out here in CM land when I say....."GO Pack!"

Go Pack! go Pack! ...There is something to the possibility that this season was simply meant to be.

BitchGoddessD -> RE: NFL Sob (or Brag) Thread (1/20/2008 2:17:54 PM)

Thanks  That says alot coming from a Dallas fan.  I definitely respect them as well, Emmit is one of the greatest in my opinion and several others.  Packers and Cowboys have a long history.  I wanted Dallas to beat the Giants so Farve would have to go through Dallas to get to the Superbowl.  Next year.  [;)]  My dad likes the Cowboys but I think that's just because my mom dated Jerry Kramer - lol.  So I like to say I am a Packer fan from the womb.
