The Cowboys will make a run this year no doubt. Romo looked great against the Colts. He's not a fluke. So he fumbled...at a bad time. Everyone fumbles, and that ball was pretty shiney. Now they have that rule that each team gets like 8 balls or something before the game and they have 45 minutes to sandpaper the ball and things like that to make sure it's not slippery and the teams use those balls to kick field goals lol

I agree, and think Romo will continue his development into one of the better QBs in the league.

Damn slick footballs...... all part of the vast conspiracy against America's Team.

Isn't there a saying about honour among thieves?  Not in Newport News, Va.

Poor Michael Vick. Rises to the top from meager background. Survives the mean streets of Newport News, brings along all his old buddies from the old neighborhood, spreads his wealth and good fortune to the boyz, risks his good name repeatedly for the sake of staying tight with the old gang, and they turn on him like rabid dogs. < pun intended >

Sooooooo, the question is...... will Ron Mexico come clean and take the deal or will he sit back and let his good friends hang him out to dry.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,293172,00.html

He is so going down on this one. Either way it's a win/win.

I'm sure the NFL will probably put a stop to this, but it's also for sell on ebay:

PITTSBURGH (AP) - When the Pittsburgh Steelers go on the road, their equipment managers get filet mignon, even if it must be eaten on plastic plates.
There is water, water everywhere. And nobody asks for a suite, not even owner Dan Rooney. But Rooney gets foam pillows only — no down pillows are allowed.

The Steelers' 17-page hotel contract rider that lists their requirements down to the tiniest detail was leaked to the Web site The Smoking Gun this week. While the NFL regular season hasn't started yet, the Steelers have played one road preseason game and have another Saturday at Washington.

That may be necessary because of allergies.

Yes, and don't forget the filet mignon allergies.

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - It's up to Michael Vick now.
His last two co-defendants pleaded guilty Friday and implicated Vick in bankrolling gambling on dogfights. One of them said the Atlanta Falcons quarterback helped drown or hang dogs that didn't do well.

With his NFL career in jeopardy and a superseding indictment adding more charges in the works, that left Vick with a hard choice: Cutting his own deal to hold jail time under a year or go to trial and sit through detailed descriptions of the ghastly operation known as "Bad Newz Kennels."

Falcons owner Arthur Blank said Friday that, "It seems to be a pretty clear indication there will be some sort of plea entered."

IRVING, Texas - Call it a Freudian slip.
During his Wednesday news conference, I accidentally asked Dallas head coach Wade Phillips to offer his thoughts on San Diego's Shawne Merriman when I actually meant Cowboys linebacker DeMarcus Ware.

Phillips and the other assembled media at Cowboys headquarters enjoyed a good chuckle over the mistake. But to Ware, the subject is no laughing matter.
Being compared to Merriman has grown as old to Ware as one of Tom Landry's trademark hats. In the same vein as quarterbacks Peyton Manning and Ryan Leaf, Ware and Merriman are forever linked in NFL lore because they were back-to-back selections (Nos. 11 and 12 respectively) as the first pass-rushing specialists chosen in the 2005 draft.

The New England Patriots locked defensive lineman Ty Warren to a long-term extension Thursday, agreeing to a five-year deal through the 2011 season.
The extension includes $18 million in guaranteed money and has a maximum value of $35 million, The Boston Globe reported. Warren's original contract, a six-year agreement he signed as a rookie in 2003, was to expire after the 2008 season.

The Patriots have their starting defensive linemen — Warren, end Richard Seymour and nose tackle Vince Wilfork — all under contract until at least through the 2009 season.

The 6-foot-5, 300-pound Warren compiled a career-high 117 tackles and 7.5 sacks last season. For his career, Warren has played in 63 regular-season games with 291 tackles and 13.5 sacks.

He missed practice this week after spraining an elbow in the preseason opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last Friday.

FLINT, Mich. (AP) - Former New York Giants receiver Mark Ingram is accused of breaking into a garage and stealing a purse from a car.
Genessee County Prosecutor David Leyton said Friday that his office issued an arrest warrant charging Ingram with a felony count of breaking and entering of a building and a misdemeanor larceny charge. The purse, which contained some cash and credit cards, was reported stolen in December in Grand Blanc Township near Flint.

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - The New York Giants and Jets closed deals Thursday for $1.3 billion in financing for a new stadium the NFL clubs are teaming to build.
"This represents another step forward in the completion of this exciting project," said Alice McGillion, a spokeswoman for New Meadowlands Stadium Corp.
Each team completed separate $650 million financing deals. CitiCorp is financing the Jets' portion, while investment banks Goldman Sachs and Lehman Brothers are financing the Giants' deal.

Maybe not --when he gets out of prison he can keep his stage name, move to Mexico and set up another "kennel".

But I guess he won't play football any more.

Erik Dickerson wrote an article just a few moments after the guilty plea. He makes a good point that other people have committed crimes and came back. Jamal Lewis and Leonard Little just to name a few. Lewis sold drugs and Little killed someone while drunk behind the wheel. I'm not comparing them, just stating the point that I would not rule out Vick coming back. It would take Al Davis or Jerry Jones, or a GM with trophies that put credit in his decisions, but it can happen.

I'm torn, people do deserve second chances but he should be punished for what he did.

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) -- Tiki Barber wanted a more intense, fiery Eli Manning. The New York Giants quarterback gave Tiki what he wanted in a loud ripping voice on Tuesday.

Two days after being criticized on national television by Barber for a lack of strong leadership, Manning ripped his former teammate and current NBC football analyst for distracting the team last season with his early retirement announcement and his criticism of coach Tom Coughlin.

"I guess I'm just happy for Tiki that he's making a smooth transition into the TV world," Manning said. "You know, I'll be interested to see if he has anything to say (about a team) besides the Giants, and what his comments will be on that."

Normally reserved and never one to criticize a coach or teammate, Manning seemed to enjoy going after Barber, the Giants' all-time leading rusher who retired after last season at age 31 to pursue a television career.

Speaking during the halftime show of the Sunday Night Football game between the Giants and Baltimore Ravens, Barber had said that Manning's attempt to lead an offensive meeting in the 12th week of the last season was "comical" at times.

I think it's time we put Ron Mexico behind us and focus on the team that once again will be proudly and victoriously walking upon "the frozen tundra."

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) - Randy Moss strolled through the Patriots' locker room with a smile and without a limp.
When it came time for the start of Wednesday's practice, though, he was a no-show — again.

The New England wide receiver is one of several key players who, because of physical woes or contract problems, haven't practiced much, if at all, this summer.

Two former Pro Bowl players, defensive lineman Richard Seymour and wide receiver Troy Brown, have been on the physically unable to perform list since training camp started. Cornerback Asante Samuel has held out since camp began for a new contract.
