Is there anything I could do to make this not develop full blown or fly by and miss me completely. I JUST started feeling better and now of all times I simply can n ot afford to be re infected, I'm going to newyork an then I am going to see my daddy dom . I CAN NOT be sick again:(

I have found Zicam nasal gel to be effective.

Jameson Irish Whiskey is pretty good, it won't prevent a cold, but the symptoms will be less noticeable.

I recommend ginger tea if you are congested which also helps with nausea and Echinacea teas which help with the immune system as well...honey will soothe your throat..I hope you get well soon.

Mega doses of vitamin C.  I use a product that I swear by for sore throats.  I can only get it at health food stores  (not GNC).  It's by a company called Nutritional Therapeutics, Inc. and it's called Throat Care.  I also take a product called Wellness Herbal Resistance Liquid and a huge multi vitamin called Source of Life...both alos found at health food stores.  Stay hydrated and eat.  Feel well.

Aileen! Krissi! Where have your pics gone? How can you deny us like that? Sadists LOL!

I agree with Aileen - lots and lots of vitamin C.

Mind you, the best thing I found so far was my painkillers. I've taken dihydrocodeine for ten years now for arthritis pain - never had a cold in all that time, and I used to get some stinkers I can tell you! Now, I dont recommend you rush to the nearest narcotics dealer by the way - these are serious painkillers that will knock you out and get you addicted really quickly - but theyre excellent for pain, and (seemingly) seem to keep colds at bay. I'd much prefer a few colds to arthritis though.

edited to ask "what the.....!?" Aileen and Krissi's pictures are now there! ?

Airborne can be good, a lot of people swear by it.

I asked the Pharmacist and he said that Echinacea can be good, but to be careful not to take too much because it is actually a toxin and can cause bad reactions in some people.

I always try to get some extra sleep (not easy, but I try), drink black tea with honey, eat healthy and fresh foods (no fast foods or frozen dinners) and all the vitamin C that I can handle.  That seems to work for me.

Once you already have the symptoms it's going to have to run it's course. Sure, there are products on the market that claim to shorten the duration and alleviate some of the symptoms....some people swear by some and others claim the same ones do nothing for them. It's really a matter of choice.

The best defense against contracting a cold though is frequent and thorough handwashing. Especially in an environment around so many touchy, feely kids.
