Hi popeye, Yes, their manner of dressing is a cultural statement, they are part of the Gothic sub-culture, closely related to the Punk sub-culture. For the Gothic, do some Google searches for bands such as: The Cure, Nine Inch Nails, Joy Division, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and Concrete Blonde. And for the Punk, search for Iggy and the Stooges, The Sex Pistols, The Ramones, Wendy O. Williams and the Plasmatics, L7, and Black Flag. You can also try wikipedia and urban dictionary for definitions. Regards, Vendaval quote:
ORIGINAL: popeye1250 A few days ago I was walking into the Supermarket and there were these three kids all dressed in black, shoes, pants, eye make-up, everything black. I said to them; "Hey! You guys starting Trick-or-Treating early?" They gave me a real dirty look. Two teenage girls standing nearby started laughing hysterically. What do they call those people in black? Are they trying to make some sort of a statement by their dress or something? We see them around here occaisionally.
