Anyway, coming from the land of ketchup on eggs I'll take any criticism with a pinch of salt.[:D]

Ack!  Not all yanks put ketchup on their eggs.  In fact, I don't even BUY ketchup (disgusting stuff).
Eggs were made to put a little protein in grits.

G'evening all:

Not a coffee drinker myself even though I adore the aroma. Nothing says morning like the smell of coffee and bacon. I like Starbuck's hot chocolate and will treat myself to a small cup once in a blue moon. My mom likes their Sumatra blend. I buy it for her. My little treat to her whenever she likes.

Too bad my French press broke. I used to keep a lovely estate grown blend of Hawaiian Kona and Jamaican Blue Mountain on hand for visitors. Coffee, like chocolate, is something you can't go cheap on. My special blend was $30/pound. (From Dallis Bros.)

Check the first link for a family owned business near me that roasts and grinds their own. They mostly wholesale to fine restaurants, but walk-ins can buy it by the pound. Perhaps they'll do it for mail orders too.

The second link is to a wholesale/retail store in Manhattan that does both coffees and teas. They have a coffee bar where you buy by the cup. The selection is rather staggering. They may even roast on premises, I'm not sure. I know they grind it on the spot. Porto Rico has a fabulous variety including organics and decafs.

Hope these links help someone if they can't find their favorites in their home town. I visit Porto Rico every time I'm in Greenwich Village. Walking into the store is a high all it's own.

Stay safe, play nice, & share your toys w/ others...

I rarely drink Starbuck's coffee and when I do it's just plain black coffee which doesn't cost $4.

Most of the time I get my 14oz. mug refilled for as low as $.50.

At home I currently use Folger's Cinnamon Swirl. I always make a full pot which can last me 2-3 days. I unplug the pot and remove the grounds which prevents rebrewing. Then just nuke a cup when I want one.

My preferred coffee is Boyd's Cinnamon Vianese

This is a Portland, OR based roaster that's been around since 1900

Ya'll need to get a life....this coffee thing has taken up far too much bandwidth....however, considering that Starbucks pretty much owns the market (and that it's a Seattle based coffee house...which is, by happenstance, where I live)...that fairly well establishes the fact that since about 9% of every dollar you spend comes back here...ya'll are supporting the real estate market here, and for that (other than the fact that you kinda fucked me in a sense 'cause I really wanted to buy my neighbors place...and now he thinks the damn thing is paved with gold)...I thank you.

(Truly, I do).

Grits.

(I believe that says it all actually).

I love their Venti Iced Vanilla Latte'.. yummy, or I get a Venti Soy Decaf-White Chocolate Mocha.

I don't do this often, but I love the one in the bookstore.  I can sit with my two favorite things, books..and coffee.

I don't spend 4 bucks on a cup of coffee. Not at Starbucks anyway. Its got that sucky burnt undertaste I can't stand.

I spend 16 bucks a pound on Gevalia coffee and make it at home. And you know what? Its worth EVERY penny!

There are three things I never skimp on expense for:

Chocolate
Wine
Coffee
