As a truck driver I don't work in an office environment. With the driver shortage, most employers are more worried about performance, than my personal life. I am always mistress of my house where ever I go. My girl always calls me "ma'am" where ever we go. If it raises an eye brow, we simple state she's southern and it's how she was raised. She is provided with a cell phone, number restricted to a very short list, so she may contact me at anytime, ie I'm always available to her. So even while I'm on the road she can call to let me know when she is leaving the house and when she has safely returned home. She still asks permission to turn in at night. The principles of Ds are my personal moral compass (self control, duty, respect, good manners, etc..). I read the books of Gor, Marketplace and other lifestyle material as I eat my meals in the truck stops. It has caused the occasional waitress to serve me from her knees, but most just don't seem to notice. While I don't not speak of the kink unless someone asks me a specific question, there is never really any question as to who in in control of our relationship. Being a "mistress" simply means I am in control of my house, feel free to consult Webster.
I am open to my family as they understand the power dynamic of my house. What we don't talk about is the kink or the dungeon in my cellar. My father reads the Ds Haven website and thus my lifestyle is not a secret to him. Nor are the slaves they see come and go through my house. As for my friends, they are all lifestyle except 3 I believe and they are very lifestyle aware.
We have a special needs child and thus over the years his counselors, case workers and therapist have come to understand something of how we live. All they gather is that the boy is kept in a very structured environment and that is what he needs. This structure comes from the Ds, not from the kink. Kink belongs in the bedroom. But if you walk around my house you will see a cane here and maybe a strap there. My life is not vanilla, I will not hide who I am, especially within my own home, and thus I chose not to include the outside world in my life as much as possible.
