Mavis -> RE: How open are You? (10/3/2006 3:00:33 AM)
|
i don't work outside in a corporate setting anymore, but when i did, it was kind of funny when co-workers would be asking if my date after work was with hubby, or with some hot new guy or gal. i was pretty open about our open marriage, and dispelling a lot of silly pre-conceptions about it was ok for me. i realised there was a "class-clown" way to do it, or an enlightening way to do it, but it did keep me on my toes to make sure the information i shared didn't get loose and play post office. One thing to remember, if you're going to be out in any way about doing something outside of the societal norms, best be prepared to work harder, perform higher, and serve the needs of the employer at a level that keeps your life choices off the front burner. i also found it was nescessary to be doubly supportive of those who choose to embrace societal norms if you expect them to consider your choices as valid as well. (please excuse 4 am grammer, spelling, and sentence composition. )
