General reply,

I tend not to respond to many things that annoy me. Many things can strike me wrong, and any term of endearment will tend to strike me wrong unless one has a personal relationship with me.

As far as people I am not involved with calling me "my" anything, well that is insensitive with regard to WIITWD in my estimation. I say this because the term "mine" or "my" is  a possessive one, and unless you possess someone it really probably should not be thrown around casually. If someone uses it, and another responds to it, well good for them, but I do not think it is uncommon for such things to not settle well.

As far as calling me a derogatory name to get my attention such as "slut", well that is not going to go over well at all in this neck of the woods, and would mark someone as a CHUDWAH in my eyes, others may differ in that regard

I tend to try not to use pet names for anyone that isnt mine just yet. Dear or Sweetheart sometimes, but thats usualy if I am TRYING to be condescending becasue they have said something clueless and I am making a point. After I know someone, they wil usually get pet names, and once I own someone, tey get their very own nickname which I dont use for anyone else.  Angel has been answering to that from the day I took control of parts of his life, but up until that day I actually used his vanilla name.
My reasoning, however, comes form my own major dislike of being given a condescending pet name. It is terribly impersonal, and you never know who you might offend with it.  Adding "my" to th ebegnning of most of them make them sound even more condescending, which is why it bothers me.

Just my 2 cents.
