When you go one level up on the forums listings, it lists the last post title posted since the page was refreshed. If the subject line has changed, it cannot be told whether it's the same topic or a new topic until you go down to that specific forum level.

The original thread name never changes LA, either in the forum's thread listings... or in the board's database. Only the last topic reply listing (right hand side of the overall forum listings) displays what the title field contains during that last reply. It affects the java scroller on the other side the same way (last reply). The initial thread title remains constant and does not affect searching for it.

The thread "Bush administration collars maker fetish films" in general bdsm is a good example. It's title was changed to "Christian Bashing!" by Firmhand on page 11 (of now 13), yet it is still listed as "Bush administration collars maker fetish films" in the forum thread index... initial title unchanged.

Actually it does change in the database. I know this because I was looking up my Daddy's postings to read him, and he had posted in WTH's train wreck about Roman Catholics. His post was labeled "bashing christianity" because someone labled it.

Also when you go to the forum directory page where it lists the last person that posted in a forum and the thread that they posted to, it does not have the original thread name listed there if someone changed it. Also when you are on the other side it will change the name of the thread when the "latest posts" are shown over there

I think you are confusing "threads" with "sub-threads", or reply posts:

It does not change the initial thread title stored in the database julia, it will remain constant. Searching the database for a thread title (or title keyword) will not be affected by reply posts with edited titles within that thread... the thread title itself is fixed, the reply title itself is not.

By default, reply posts are always "RE: Initial Thread Title" unless edited..... but the thread title itself is never changed.... only subsequent replies to the thread can have their titles changed/edited.

If you searched for posts by member name, then you will see the search results listed as whatever their reply post title field contained when they posted their reply to the original unchanged title thread.
