My platonic best friend sounds just like the guy you're describing. He knows about, and slightly disproves of, my involvement in the lifestyle, yet he is so submissive to me that it isn't even funny.

He does all the little things you mentioned....some might call it "being a nice guy" but the vibe goes beyond that.

I would never mention to my friend that he's a subby-kind of guy. I just don't see the need. Some things go without saying!

Since he is aware of your involvement/interest in bdsm I would prob think that its no harm to give him a gentle explanation of being a sub and see if he recognises himself in it.

I know many many subs who just are not aware of the terminology or ideas behind it, and having introduced one or two to a basic understanding - they find they are at home wih it.

I like to think of it as spreading the word in a lovely way :)

Status: offline 		If he knows you're into BDSM you could have a general conversation with him sometime without saying what you think about him. He might have no idea there is such a thing as D/s and only have the S&M understanding. If you just give him information, he might even suggest to you that he is submissive, once he hears a definition. It would put less pressure on him that way and no responsibility on you to define him.

Status: offline 		I have a platonic male friend who is very submissive to me.  Even to the point of - if we get into a heated argument/debate and he starts to raise his voice, I'll say, "Don't raise your voice to me!" and he backs right down.  And I'm not a Domme.  hehehe

Status: offline 		Why put labels on it then find out that Your label is wrong and He is just someone who gets great pleasure in being helpful to You especially as He already knows that You are in the lifestyle.
To put labels on People when You see them do something that seems one way to You can indeed be wrong ,as when We go to other peoples places We will wipe up and Miss Diane will fold washing even make beds and this also is at places of people in the lifestyle and they most defiantly know We are not Sub but to some one new in it they could label Us as such and be dead wrong indeed.
Best to enjoy what is being done for you and that you have such a friend to help you and yes be there for you no matter what because there will be times that you will be thankful that you just can call such a Person a friend and nothing else.

Status: offline 		I agree with the other posters...you might try giving him a little nudge and see what he thinks, how he would define himself, ect.  You might be surprised. 

My husband is very much like that - he open doors for me, ect - but he's very much the Dom in our relationship (in and out of the bedroom).

Status: offline 		I think LA's response was pretty good.  The Loving Dominant is a pretty decent read to start out with, IMO.  Or, you could go with the don't worry about labels scenario, and let the chips fall where they may.

I don't think that doing things for you makes him submissive.  The Mate does LOTS of things for me, and he is very much NOT submissive to me.  He does them because it pleases him. I'm certainly not going to complain. It may well be that you've just found a nice guy who likes to do nice things for you.

I know that when I was with Chris, he often helped me with things around the house; and there is nothing submissive about him at all. Personally, I would just smile and accept the fact that he enjoys knowing that it makes you happy, and leave it at that.
