Same Material and same shape - one with holes, one without - A lot of other variables are involved relative to hole quantity and size, finish on the paddle and actual materials - buit, allthings being equal, the one with holes will generally leave a greater impact/feeling when applied with an equal force - it will have a greater speed. Windage is less with holes, so there is less resistance to motion. 'With holes' has a greater impact surface area (the edges of the holes will act as additional space for the flesh to be "drawn up into" as it impacts and conforms the skin to itself) - they also present 'edges' (usually they are rounded edges to avoid a splitting of the skin) for the skin to be impacted on, therefore presenting additional tensile effect. Besides - the one with holes leaves deliciously intricate patterns that can really be 'pretty' ~J
