Great news for rational people. Bad news for feminists/leftists.

The poor little totalitarian freaks can't chuck tantrums to get their own way anymore and pretty much dominate university space.

Now you have to put up and shut up.

Suck it up you fucking control freaks. [:D]

Lucylastic -> RE: University of Minnesota’s proposed free speech protections would be “the most comprehensive to date” (5/11/2016 2:57:51 AM)

poor little totalitarian misogynist throws another tantrum

Since you're neither, why are *you* so happy about it?

You see little peon, the people who are the rational ones are the people who can see straight through the BS that leftists/feminists/SJWs always spew out. Rational people are tired of feelings coming before facts.

Right - we are. So why don't you learn from us?

FR

Throwing the baby out with the bathwater again are you ? You are really showing your true colors here and it ain't pretty. From the article :

"It defines “serious disruption” as chanting, persistent heckling or other noisy demonstrations that make it difficult or impossible for an audience to hear what a speaker is saying. It notes that disruption does not include peaceful protest outside an event, holding signs or wearing armbands in opposition of an event or speaker, or asking “critical questions” during a planned question-and-answer period."

You got a problem with that ? Well then I guess Men could have just shouted down the suffragettes and threw water on their burning bras.

Where is your objectivity ? Apparently you have none. You cannot even think about the other side of an issue. You can't argue, that is obvious because of your lame ass responses.

Of course the OP applied this wrong, feminism isn't the point of the article. But when you go looking for things you find them. Like a buddy of mine said the number 13 kept on showing up in his life. I told him it was because he was looking for it. I told him to look for the number 12. Not long after he said I was right.

So this dude is fixated on one topic. Annoying but that doesn't make every thing he posts bullshit. Universities are liberal cesspools, they are the ones who taught the financiers how to wreck the economy. They are the ones who taught republicans that Women can't get pregnant from legitimate rape. They are the ones that taught the Earth is 6,000 years old and they are the ones that taught that we can burn all this shit forever and not cause global warming. They taught that DDT and cyclamates were safe. They also taught that "we are all the same under the skin" much to the detriment of medical advances, because different races do have different dietary requirements and other needs and peculiar problems. They taught alot of bullshit.

And now they are liberal indoctrination centers. You better have some socialistic tendencies to make the grade. That is not right. What this university is doing is to take a step back from that and allow opinions to be expressed. And you make it sound like he raped a 12 year old boy.

Good going assholes. Why the fuck don't you respond rather than make stoooopid comments ? Fight. All you are doing now is making yourselves look worse than the OP.

Congratulations.

There's no point in getting pissy about it, Termy. All Nick ever does is open threads then dump horse manure on the top of them that masquerades as an OP. No reasoning, no argument ... just a bunch of stilted opinions. If he wants more consideration, he needs to *post* with more consideration. The ball's in his court - and yours, if you support him.

Actually they did a lot more than just shout them down. :)

KenDckey -> RE: University of Minnesota’s proposed free speech protections would be “the most comprehensive to date” (5/11/2016 9:41:52 AM)

I personally approve of this new policy. I don't have to like what is being said, I don't even have to listen to it. But, that doesn't take away the speakers right to say it under the First Amendment of the Constitution. To change that would require a Constitutional Amendment defining what is "approved" speech.

While you are more than partially right about the person who started this thread, let's hear your opinion on what the U. of M. is doing, as stated in the OP.

I agree with their stance. While you have every right to protest, you do NOT have the right to stop others from listening to things that they may want to hear. Especially when it's something they may have paid to hear.

And you 'know' all this, how? When was the last time you attended the uni? I've been at that prospect in three different stages of life, but somehow that "the earth is 6,000 years old" and the "can't get pregnant from rape" thing somehow slipped through the years I was out of it, apparently. Along with completely missing out on the notion of any of that being a part of a "liberal agenda" at all.

The Romanian guy who taught Word, Excell, HTML, etc. didn't seem like too much of a 'liberal' to me. The econ teacher who told her class "That's why Reagan had to get rid of Volker, because he couldn't get rid of the inflation" (which is 100% opposite of the truth) didn't seem much 'liberal' at all to me, nor to anyone else in the class.

My classes have involved roughly half the departments at the uni and community college at one time or another, even if just one class from some of them (Spanish, accounting, French, eleven econ courses {ughh!}, geology, German, music theory, history, five levels of math, US government {political science!}, international relations, ... whatever, I lose count, and some of it too long ago). Not being able to make up one's effing mind can be rough, no question.

I know that I was half asleep on some occasions, but not that many, and if there was any 'liberal agenda' in that process, I was totally blinkered to it.

In the last episode, I actually did come across the relatively new phenomenon of the English department suddenly (since my previous experience there) now holding hegemony over what constitutes "critical thinking," formatting textbooks to have every distraction possible on the top, bottom, sides, and every corner possible (with a "what do you think?!" thingy always stuck in there somewhere), and this utterly bizarre new practice of "work together" in class in solving a problem you can do in 2 minutes on your own, but now takes ten minutes (though not always finished by then) in the 'mitarbeit' scheme (Mitarbeit Macht Frie), being as that the uni now considers the 'monkeys fucking a football' approach to 'learning' to be a positive thing.

All that is for purpose of being "better workers" in the sense of grooming one to accept as normal what would not be accepted in the past, how to accept the most bizarre of notions in the workplace (like being pushed constantly to intrude on people's lives further if you work for Google, e.g.) or how to steal someone's pension if she has ALS and try as she might, can only make it to two and a half months shy of the ten year requirement for being fully vested, but now has her last two years of life to go after being majorly ripped off ...

ETC.!!!

Unless you're trying to tell us that a private equity firm laying off 5,000 workers and selling off $1 billion in assets, learning that in the Masters Finance program at the uni, was part of the 'liberal mandate' in that endeavor?

Just what is the thing here? Anybody runs over a rabbit, it's a liberal agenda? Anybody invades the ME, it's a liberal agenda? Anybody gets a degree in IT or computer science, he/she is being sent out to the world with the liberal mandate instilled in them in those programs?

Since when was deregulation a 'liberal agenda'?

Man ...

Creationist universities. Obvs.

Actually, he claims that as a 'liberal' item too. Note the reference to the "6,000 year old world" proposition laid at the door of the "liberal university" in his post.

Jerry Falwell was a liberal. Who'd a thunk it?

I almost (but not quite, actually) wish they had drugs that good when I indulged in that mess eons ago.

Maybe his beef with women and moslems is down to him having once had a hihab-wearing connection for some really good shit, who stopped dealing to him when her head cleared enough for her to realise that he's a white boy?

The neo-con(fidence men) who think it is alright to interfere with any country that is too small to fight back to get to their oil, or cadmium or other natural resources, and think they have the right to lay a pipeline anywhere they damnwell please.

Both sides are wrong, and both sides must go. People are ready for a third party these days but nothing is coming up. I am ready to eliminate both parties whether there is an alternative or not. They are both poisoning this country, making us both a pariah and laughing stock at the same time.

We're to the point where if a dog if one was running. One bark for veto, two barks for endorse.

Define one conservative university.

Well maybe BYU.

G'day Termy

Look, I like and agree with most of what you say around here. I just want to clear some things up.

quote:

Of course the OP applied this wrong, feminism isn't the point of the article.

It is partly the point. As in my OP, I said feminists/leftists...not "feminists" alone.

Feminism is partly the point of this article because it's feminists alone who are mostly trying to censor speech in universities. SJWs in general do it but when speech is about gender issues that aren't kowtowing the feminist narrative, this is when you see it the most.

For example:

Campus Speech Bullies - The real face of feminism

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LfzUG70nN6k

Warren Farrell protest at University of Toronto

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iARHCxAMAO0

If you know any other incidences that are non feminist/gender issue related in universities that are just as common and just as extreme, be my guest in pointing out the evidence.

Little peon

So what argument exactly are you expecting me to make out of the article? I agree with the article, so you expect me to argue against something that I agree with?

I just simply stated that I agree with it. What else do you expect me to say? The point is to find someone who disagrees with this. If anyone in here doesn't agree with this change, I am happy to debate their ridiculous authoritarian stance. It will be a totally easy one to defeat, that's for sure.

So what's your beef with this? You seem to have a problem with this? Probably because you are the typical feminist control freak that wants to censor anyone with a different opinion. the exact people this article is about.

quote:

You've already read my reasons why I can't be bothered at present, CD. So: no.

That is fucking laughable, peon.

The real reason is that you are the one who is just dumping horse manure with no reasoning, no argument, just a bunch of stilted opinions against my character.

The total fucking irony!

You haven't got a leg to stand on, you are fucked.

You sad pathetic little man. Congratulations on making an idiot of your self for everyone to see.
