Could we get slightly more real, here? This was a beach resort. The people involved were from countries where they don't carry guns. Even if they could carry guns in their home nations, they probably wouldn't have been allowed to bring them to a foreign country when going on holiday, should they even think of doing that, anyway. Lastly, how the feck do you carry around a gun when you're only wearing a bikini or swimming trunks?

Yes, if some people had been tooled up, they could have shot the gunman. But, clearly, on this beach that was *exceedingly* unlikely ... which was probably a factor when the gunman was figuring out his venue beforehand.

Could everybody stop trying to apply 'American gun culture' arguments, here? They don't fit ... they're unrealistic and utterly alien to everybody in the western world other than Americans - and even many of them. Nobody is *ever* going to go on holiday from Britain, Belgium, Germany (the main nationals involved here) or any other European country and lie on a beach with a frigging gun stuffed down his trunks or her bikini-bottom.
