Getting back to the point of the topic, it seems that FOX news considers this act by the YMCA to cater to the special requirements for Muslim women as the first step to the down fall of the American Legal system. The simple fact is that rules have been side stepped to allow Jewish boys to wear a yamaka in classes in public schools. Members of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes are allowed to meet in our schools as are prayer groups. Now, since the YMCA is not part of the government, who the fuck cares what they do? They are doing nothing more than seeing to the needs of the community. Of course considering that a large portion of the population of the US considers the words of FOX news as the new gospel, I have to agree with Stewart, it must be a sad existence to live in such fear and paranoia all the time.

FR even if it was a governative facility doing this I wouldn't see a problem, this being an issue is somehow twisting the principle of no religious dscrimination: there is a group of women that want follow swimming classes but would feel harassed if forced to do it with men watching them, discrimination would be telling them you can't comply just because their feeling comes from an islamic education.

I have to agree. Long ago I sat on the board of a local YMCA. We always tried to maximize the use of the facilities as a service to the community. Some nights the basketball courts were turned into volleyball courts. Some days they taught karate in the gymnastic room. It's supply and demand. If I have one hundred Muslim women join who want to have a time they can use a facility and still observe their cultural preferences, then the facility should make that time. Why is that any different for setting aside time for mothers to water proof their toddlers where only mothers and toddlers were allowed? ( assuming in the mother/toddler case, theoretically a father may want to water proof a toddler but the issue just never came up and the Y made rules to maximize the number of toddlers water proofed.)

Sure, no problem! And there shouldn't be any problem for reserving the pool for "Church" for us Irish guys, right? A keg of beer and some hard spirits, open bar. Father Feeley from the boy's school for the opening prayer that there's no fights. That's all part of our Heritage, Culture and Religion, wouldn't want to "Offend" the "Oirish" now would you? We'll be in and out in 3 hours! No Lifeguard neccessary.

There are actually a good few protestants in Ireland :) it was kind of irony, what I meant is there was nothing about catholic religion about a pool party, a glass of wine for th priest yes but never an open bar, so this had to be a different religion I'm not aware of it's existence. I could also have pointed out that in what he described swimming was not involved. But I have the suspect he just wanted to trash the pool because they negotiate with the enemy and denied to local voyeurs their right to get a boner staring at islamic women and has nothing to do with religion.

But they're Christians (after a fashion), so apparently that's alright. It's not like you'd have to worry about an Amish wearing a pair of exploding underpants on an airliner, after all...
