No link....its all over the web and really, the President Obama Collarme Protection Axis will just dismiss any newsite I post so...

It appears the Saudis are upset over President Obamas "dithering" dealings with Sytia and Iran.

It's an interesting gambit and King Abdullah, conveniently, seems to be missing for comments but it would mark a signiicant shift.

The Saudis are upset with Washington. But just how upset? Enough to break off co-operation over Syria, as has been suggested this week?

With conflicting messages coming from senior princes, it is hard to tell.

But the signs are that Washington's most important strategic Arab partnership is now suffering the biggest strains since it emerged that 15 of the 19 suicide hijackers who had attacked the US on 9/11 were Saudis.

'Major shift'
First came the shock announcement on 18 October that Saudi Arabia was turning down its two-year non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council in protest at the international body's apparent inability to resolve either the Syrian or Palestinian situations.

Then on Tuesday it was widely reported that the Saudi intelligence chief, Prince Bandar bin Sultan, had told European diplomats his country would be making "a major shift" in its relations with the US.

I'm thinking that the Saudis are coming under more of Putin's hand. Not surprising.

I see the nutsackers are still whining. Under what auspices should we have friendly relations with these assholes anyhow?

You can't post a link because you or what ever echo chamber site you got this from is exaggerating the story.

What appears to be happening is the KSA is upset that we haven't gone along with them on every little thing like we did under W. Which is a good thing.

But there is no way they'll close their embassy or recall their ambassador.

Very very minor strains, you mean? They glossed over that trivial matter right quick...

Such desperation to bash the President.... whining on SA`s part....sad.

They did refuse to take a UN seat, supposedly in opposition to the UN`s dealings with Syria.

It looks more like our rightist`s Obama-hate/Putin-love that`s driving this poop....

"Saudi Arabia’s diplomatic temper tantrum at the United Nations on Friday comes down to this: one of the world’s richest and most discriminatory countries is upset that other nations aren’t doing enough to risk their lives and interests on its behalf"

"The Saudis shocked fellow diplomats when they refused to accept a temporary seat on the UN Security Council, despite having campaigned for it. The abrupt nature of the refusal was clear: A special team of Saudi diplomats had been gathered in anticipation of the invitation, the U.S. ambassador to the UN had already issued a statement offering congratulations, and the Saudi ambassador had released a statement attesting to Riyadh’s pride at being selected for a two-year term next to the five permanent members. “Our election today is a reflection of a longstanding policy in support of moderation and in support of resolving disputes by peaceful means,” he said.

The next day, however, the Saudis announced they would reject the offer, reflecting their disappointment at the Security Council’s failure to solve several crucial items on the Saudi agenda. First and foremost is Syria. In a bitter statement explaining its decision, it complained:"

They wanted more action on Syria. They didnt get it and they are throwing a hissy fit. Say what you want about fracking but it has put the US in a position to tell the Saudis to take a flying leap.

Ps. Im no fan of Obama.

If its all over the place, logic would dictate you could provide a link from a non-conservative website. You created this thread, and have had plenty of time to throw up at the very least one link. Why has this NOT been performed?

Here, let me show you how to do it....

Press the button that says 'link'. A pop-up box will give you two input slots. One for the actual address (the URL) and one for a comment (a URL Name). Then hit 'Ok'. You have been on this forum for a long time (3079 posts as of this writing), and posted links in the past. So you really have no justifiable excuse.

An Example of a Link

First, the Saudis are upset over the events surrounding the NSA spying on other nations (most importantly theirs). Well no shit, what do you think a spy agency is suppose to do? Sell Girl Scout Cookies? They have a spy agency as well, as to every other country with a government that is stable. Most of the time these agencies work.....together.....to keep countries, regions, and even the planet itself stable from war. It doesn't always work out, but it does keep the destruction down. Anyone that has a clue (read: non-conservatives in the USA) understand that even among allies, there is spying going on. Or are you absolutely trusting of EVERY COUNTRY ON PLANET EARTH, FDD? Conservatives have to say 'yes' or else they are all full of shit.

Second, Saudi Arabia is not going to cut diplomatic ties, or even remove friendly relations with the United States. Because the USA is the only power keeping Iran from developing nuclear weapons, or invading them. It is well known that Saudi Arabia and Iran are enemies. The Saudis are....get this....upset that the United States didn't take direct military action in Syria. And who in the United States spent the whole spring and summer of 2013 demanding the Obama Administration....NOT....take direct military action in Syria, FDD? The CONSERVATIVES. There are plenty of forum threads we can dig up, that show each and every one of you conservatives.....raged.....at the idea of President Obama placing boots on the ground in Syria. Go right ahead and bullshit to all of us, that you conservatives....DID NOT....do this.

So here we have an example of 'conservative logic' on display. You demanded the President did not take direct military action in Syria. And conservatives attacked him on it all over the place, including this forum. The evidence is in previous threads. So the President went along with what conservatives demanded, and did NOT place boots on the ground in Syria. So now it emerges that Saudi Arabia is mad about the United States not placing boots on the ground there. So you conservatives feel this is a good time to slam the President over that action. Funny how conservatives slam the President over all sorts of things, but can not hold themselves or their elected officials to even an ounce of accountability or responsibility. Now why is that, FDD? That's right: Playing Politics!

Where did i say throw away a diplomatic relationship?

They wanted something done, and we didn't do it. That is what I meant. The saudis do not have us in a chokehold anymore.

Public opinion was pretty much against it too. I am sure that factored into the slight congressional support with most voting "undecided".
I could post a link but im on my phone and we all know how to use google.

Edit: not a congressional vote but a tally taken on sep. 10.

As usual common sense will come off as anti-Muslim or radical...but... They have the money... the men... the military...and our backing... do it themselves and stop the whining. They are always looking for some other country to give their blood for them... Time to step up and be the power in the region and stop trying to get others to die for them.

Agreed. The only thing I'd add is that the Saudis are not severing ties, but are saying that they feel more distant toward us. It might come to severing some day, but not now.

Snicker.

So you're going to open relationships with Iran and close them with Saudi Arabia.
Oh sure. I'd love to hear pretzel logic justifying that.
