MasterCurios -> rules to be or not to be!!! (7/1/2006 2:19:25 PM)

hello all   i have a Question here for all its been discussed on the various groups me and my pet belong to and many here belong to as well....

when training a slave do you instruct/make them use the third person rule?(referring to themselves as if they are talking for that individual)..

If so why and how does it benefit them and or you?? i do not believe in using this form of training and as yet have not found any real use for it   this is only my opinion ...

Third person is an objectification response-usually used in M/s protcols. What exactly are you training for?

juliaoceania -> RE: rules to be or not to be!!! (7/1/2006 2:34:23 PM)

Although this submissive hasn't been trained to have discourse in this manner she trained herself to do so....smiles... it really isn't that hard to do after all, and on occasion I have found it amusing to fall into such dialogue with my former dominant. I have never been asked to do this except for certain online groups I had joined in the past demanded it. I was so new to BDSM I thought that this was how most real life BDSMers conducted themselves. Now I am sure it is how some do things, but I havent heard it from those I know that are involved in BDSM.

My present dom is my Daddy, and no I do not refer to myself in the third person... if others get off on it... Go Them!

I do not require  it of my slave; however, she often refers to herself as 'this slave'.

He thought I should do third person in the very beginning when we were still online. That lasted about two days and I told him it just wasn't for me. Made me feel to detached from what we were trying to build together. He agreed and I haven't done it since. We talk about it sometimes if we ever get around to doing some kind of Master/slave role play where it might be appropriate and fun.

I would rather be dropped down an elevator shaft than have a submissive that spoke in the third person. After a bit, it grates on my nerves.

SweetSarijane -> RE: rules to be or not to be!!! (7/1/2006 3:07:34 PM)

It's not something I'm comfortable with doing and the Doms and Masters I know are not into it either.

If others are into it then hey, whatever floats your boat. I have no problem with others being into it and I see it mainly as a part of objectification. Just not for me personally.

Brosco -> RE: rules to be or not to be!!! (7/1/2006 3:11:42 PM)

This Dom has never felt the need to seperate himself from another by speaking in such a way and would hope that anyone he cared to have a relationship with would not feel the need either.

sublizzie -> RE: rules to be or not to be!!! (7/1/2006 3:17:04 PM)

Since my Dom/me friends are working at me saying "no" and learning to see my high value as a submissive, the kind of mind-set that third person enforces would not be in my best interests. I've done that kind of thing to please certain on-line persons, but it did not help me. It just put me into a very bad emotional state.

Only if it appeals to you and is effective in guiding her mind where you want it.

crouchingtigress -> RE: rules to be or not to be!!! (7/1/2006 3:29:39 PM)

its sexy.

when it flows naturally and orgaincally (read: not as a command) from the submissive, it is very heart touching, and becomes a way to be even more submissvive and more protrate to their partner...

gooddogbenji -> RE: rules to be or not to be!!! (7/1/2006 3:33:56 PM)

This slave believes this: slave to his Mistress is this slave, and therefore, this slave is his Mistress' slave.  His Mistress, however, says this slave is this slave's slave, and therefore his own Mistress, this slave is.  This is just this slave's opinion.

Yours,

benji

My preference is for the "9th person" rule.

It can get a bit complicated at times (what with trying to remember 8 other peoples names and all for every sentence structure) but it's useful in ensuring that the sub knows their place at all times (even if after more than 3 minutes of this, no one else can figure it out).

Mu amusing quirk on this is that I've always used third person, as long as I can remember.  It's only randomly, and usually in expressing annoyance or humor, but imagine my surprise in coming into bdsm and finding that some people use it as a tool in their submission and perceive people differently because of it!

I've known people who could use third person speech so gracefully that you wouldn't miss a beat.

And I've known people who might as well have been shouting "Lookit me and how SLAVELY I am using third person!" for all their third person/focusing on my submission they talked about.

Most people seem to fall into the latter category.

IronBear -> RE: rules to be or not to be!!! (7/1/2006 4:10:17 PM)

I've seen in Gorean areas and used myself the third person speach for oth training and punishment. Not a form of speach I prefer in HIB. <<Chuckles>> However: "In all trueth I prithee, I twould be most happy to have a kajira discorcing with my in medieval speech at anytime for as thou knowest well such a manner of speeking lends itself to the gentlest means of teasing and complements and yet han be used to issue the most harsh commands if the need ist there."

diamonddreamlove -> RE: rules to be or not to be!!! (7/1/2006 5:21:16 PM)

Have used 3rd person but actually it is not comfortable or without forethought.  In short while some might think it a blessing if i had to use it all the time i would never say anything.
