I haven't proclaimed his guilt. I'm proclaiming that when you have a high profile, you stay the hell out of situations where you can be compromised.

We've already gone over in another thread where the authorities will take an 'abused' woman's word as gospel.
In Z's place, stay the hell out of that situation.
If he was even carrying at the time when someone has just filed for divorce and he is knowingly within a half mile of her without a police officer or other relatively unimpeachable witness, that was a stupid decision.
ETA. He has apparently been taken into custody because it isn't just he said/she said. He allegedly threatened his father in law as well.

You're getting as bad as dress-up sword boy.

What I said was he needs to learn to stay out of any situation where he can be in deep doodoo just by being there.
Even if you don't threaten them, visiting your wife and in-laws with a firearm in your possession when she has just filed for divorce is stupid. Given his recent history, doubly so.

If you're going to visit, take a witness and leave the gun at home.
If you can't stand to travel without it, either stay home or sell it because you're too stupid and paranoid to own a firearm.

I ask again, how is it that you aren't saying he's guilty of the accusations, but you've already accused him of not learning to not use a gun as a brain replacement?

If he's not guilty of the accusations, your "some people don't fucking learn" statement doesn't apply.

You don't know if he had a gun there. You don't know if he threatened her with a gun. It is stupid to get into those situations, but it's not illegal. It's very easy to protect oneself from those accusations, too. But, you have said he hadn't learned to not use a gun as a brain replacement. Where do you come up with that, unless you have already decided that the accusations are true (which, they very well could be)?

Good! This qualifies as a 'silver lining'.

And I agree with HW - people in George's position need to keep themselves looking squeaky clean. Jeez, that man could do with some decent advisers. Ones with functioning brains, preferably.

It's legal to be there and do what you're doing but incredibly stupid and unnecessary to have a weapon

I seem to remember a receiver doing jail time for just that. It wasn't a strip club and he didn't mean anyone any harm but apparently, you can be jailed for stupidity in Manhattan.

We've both been arrested (didn't know that about me did you?)
I learned to be a HELL of a lot smarter with my actions and where I go and with who after 5 whole hours in the pokey.

George apparently didn't learn a damn thing.

That was pretty much My thought, too. Like it or not, if you go to trial, you've got a chance of being thrown in the clink, whether you are innocent or not. Some folks might consider it a small risk, but it's still a risk.

If I was this dude, I'd probably still be kissing the grass under My feet and appreciating the fact that I had freedom, with the full knowledge that it *could* have gone the other way. I wouldn't be taking another chance.

I'm surprised the dude is even taking chances with those speeding tickets.

The thing is....she's not exactly trustworthy either. She could have just as easily lied about the gun.....and then realized that it would impact her in some manner and recanted.

So, I really don't know which side to believe.
