A small group of people are standing at the edge of a mall parking lot taking pictures of an accident on an adjacent highway when a female mall cop orders them to stop and delete their photos. They decline, and instead of calling the police the mall cop decides to use force. But when she lays her hands on one of the women in the group, things don't work out so well. Heh. The mall cop ends up on her knees in a headlock. Gotta love it!

The mall cop was fired.

K.

So typical. Enjoy...Mall Ninja 1 and I forgot to add Mall Ninja 2

Give some people a uniform and a badge and it goes to their heads...

I don't understand why she was trying to stop them from taking pictures anyway. What kind of rule was being invoked?

Granted, the mall is private property and they have the right to eject anyone they don't like, but just for taking pictures? I don't get it.

LafayetteLady -> RE: Mall Cop Gets Taken Down (5/23/2013 9:46:46 PM)

The really funny thing is they weren't taking pictures of the mall!

MasterCaneman -> RE: Mall Cop Gets Taken Down (5/23/2013 9:55:23 PM)

The problem was she thought she was more than a mall security guard and probably waded into the group thinking she was a real cop.

MalcolmNathaniel -> RE: Mall Cop Gets Taken Down (5/23/2013 9:58:59 PM)

Good lord but those guys are two world class trolls!

As for the mall cop in the original post? She's basically screwed if charges are pressed.

LafayetteLady -> RE: Mall Cop Gets Taken Down (5/23/2013 10:00:08 PM)

So is the chick who opened the can of whoop ass on her.

FrostedFlake -> RE: Mall Cop Gets Taken Down (5/23/2013 10:33:17 PM)

Observe and report.

It is not a hard job. It is a boring job. At least, it is supposed to be boring.

Nope.

The security guard initiated everything. She began yelling, and she made the first move physically. The other woman clearly had reason to believe that she was in danger.

She also did not use excessive violence. She simply restrained the guard and took her down.

DaddySatyr -> RE: Mall Cop Gets Taken Down (5/24/2013 4:57:22 AM)

Ya gotta love square badges!

To answer one of the questions: why are people not allowed to take photos?

Since the attacks over a decade ago, this country has instituted ridiculous measures aimed at stopping terrorism (ain't gonna happen, folks). Since malls are considered targets for terrorism, they forbid photos being taken in case some group decides to take photos of the mall in order to plan an attack.

It's silly but it's the world in which we live.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

I worked as a security guard for a hotel once. Lasted two days. One of the crappiest jobs I've ever had in my life. It was boring, but also tiring, since I had do patrols every hour with a portable clock and go to each key station to prove that I was making the patrols.

I agree, observe and report. In this case, all she had to do was tell them to leave once, and if they refused to go, call the police. If someone refuses to leave private property after being told to go, they're guilty of criminal trespass.

I counted at least 5 punches thrown at the security guard.

FrostedFlake -> RE: Mall Cop Gets Taken Down (5/24/2013 8:09:38 AM)

That brings back memories, Zonie. I got to play keymaster too. But I wasn't cruising a Hotel sniffing for fire. I was making sure no one broke into and got hurt in and got left to die in a condemned meat packing plant in Seattle.

That was the crappiest job I've ever had. The sort of thing that effects a fellows diet. And except for the filth, incredibly boring.

I don't know what kind of mall this was, I've got to say in the 23 years I've lived here there's been only two incidents at the local mall. One was prior to the no teens without an adult rule and the other was a basic robbery of a restauranteur walking out with the evening proceeds after the mall was closed.

Uh...yes she did. She had her down on the ground repeatedly swinging at her. "like for like" is self defense. She didn't simply restrain her, or hold her until the police were called.

DaddySatyr -> RE: Mall Cop Gets Taken Down (5/24/2013 12:30:46 PM)

Isn't she allowed to use as much force as it takes to get away? That mall cop wasn't letting her go anywhere.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

LafayetteLady -> RE: Mall Cop Gets Taken Down (5/24/2013 12:39:20 PM)

The mall cop was on the ground UNDERNEATH her. She couldn't stop her from doing anything.

While the video was amusing, both the people and the guard behaved inappropriately. The guard for obvious reasons; she tried to handle a crowd of people herself (which even police aren't going to do if the crowd resists as this one did). She should have simply called the police.

The crowd was so busy yelling back at her and hoping to get a viral youtube video. One of them could have easily called the police as well and reported what the guard was doing.

The guard didn't *attack* anyone. Yes, she was behaving inappropriately, but no one there was in fear for their safety, and you know it. It was a mob mentality of "we'll show her."

Hillwilliam -> RE: Mall Cop Gets Taken Down (5/24/2013 12:39:39 PM)

If I'm attacked by someone who is likely armed, I will make damn sure I don't get shot or stabbed in the back or hit over the head with something hard and klunky as I'm leaving.
Typically, that means the opponent isn't getting up soon.
