Delilya -> Need Movie Name Please and Thank You. (5/3/2013 9:42:13 AM)

All I can remember about it is there are time-travelers that go back in the past to witness events, like the Titanic sinking. They were found out because someone recognized one man from several different photos that were taken at different tragedies, in different years, too far apart for it to be possible.

I know that isn't much to go on, and hence my problem with finding it. If it rings a bell with anyone, please share. Reading my second in a row time-travel book and have it on my mind. Smiles.

Damn, only thing I can say is that Delilya did not dream that film, I remember the matter of the photos too.

From your description, this sounds like a pretty close match.

huh. There was a famous short story by one of the classic SF writers that was exactly this plot...Michael Moorcock? Not credited in that Wiki entry or the IMDB listing.

There are several on Pirate Bay :)

I thought of John Varley's Millennium but poise's link seems more on point. Varley is one of my favorite SF writers.

Millenium rocked...even the movie was good.

I remember the story that was mentioned, but it seems like there was another (maybe a TV anthology show?) that went with the same basic premise. A group visiting a town to see it destroyed by a meteor, or something.

I have the book here somewhere in my collection ( I read it for the umpteenth time a short time ago) and the movie was on T.V. here again a couple months back but if you ask me the titles of either, I would be totally lost. I will dig through my library over this weekend and see what I can come up with.

Yeah I think I've seen that one, they had passports they stamped to time travel with...

My first thought to the op was Dr Who lol, Christopher Eccleston's first story

Thank you all for you tips and research. All I could do was draw a blank. You're the best!

I think the story you're thinking of is "Vintage Season"- Kuttner and Moore. Good story...

I'm pretty sure you're correct there, from my recollection it fits the OP's description.

That's a horrible feeling, wanting to remember a title, isn't it? There was a SF book I read many years ago that I wanted to reread but could not remember the name. I've tried for years to find it and it still bothers me. My problem is it was so long ago, I only remember minor details. I'm happy for you that you got your answer!

Give us the details; we may be able to come up with the title.

theshytype -> RE: Need Movie Name Please and Thank You. (5/4/2013 8:57:13 AM)

I believe it was for young-adults. I read it as a kid and wanted to reread it then but forgot the name. Yes, many years passed by and I still think about, especially with any apocalypse talk. Now I'm probably too old for the book but I'd really like my daughter to read it - I think she may like it.
There was a major disaster (I don't remember war or natural) that left few survivors. I recall a small neighborhood of survivors and each one had something the others could benefit from. One had a small garden, another supplies like paper... That's literally all I remember.

BornInControl -> RE: Need Movie Name Please and Thank You. (5/4/2013 9:09:00 AM)

It was Alas Babylon. Written in the 50's by Pat Frank. A really nice story about how a small town in Florida comes together to rebuild after nuclear war. You can also check out Earth Abides, very similar except with plague rather than war.
