PeonForHer -> Find your political self on the 'Political Compass' (4/2/2013 5:14:56 PM)

This can be fascinating. A few people I've known to try it have been surprised by their political affiliations - they've come to believe that they need some radical questioning. You may not be as blue, red, authoritarian or liberal as you think - you may even have voted for the 'wrong' party all your life. Or, indeed, you may be better off getting into some extra-parliamentary political action . . . .

The test takes only minutes and *there are no correct answers*.

Fun!

I think this has been posted here about twice a year, going back to at least '06.

Are people's memories really that short?

FunCouple5280 -> RE: Find your political self on the 'Political Compass' (4/2/2013 6:40:33 PM)

Too many questions didn't offer answers that didn't need qualifications.

I consider myself a lot more to the right, and lower.

Anyone else find it interesting how contemporary leaders scored?

Mitt is more authoritarian than Obama? Really? Obama is that far to the right?!?

kdsub -> RE: Find your political self on the 'Political Compass' (4/2/2013 8:18:56 PM)

lol..yes it is....you can be displayed with crossing arrows or a dot.

PeonForHer -> RE: Find your political self on the 'Political Compass' (4/2/2013 8:20:45 PM)

You have to continue for another page or two, Butch. That's not showing your score.

FunCouple5280 -> RE: Find your political self on the 'Political Compass' (4/2/2013 8:24:43 PM)

I think it is accurate that mitt and Obama are close on the authoritarian scale. Both are party establishment types; therefore in love with power. Just in a different sense. Mitt would be more socially limiting and Obama more economically limiting.

However, as to the right left...well obviously Obama didn't fill it out himself so we an trash that part of it. Yet there is no way Mitt should be that far right either. He is not a true capitalist, he is a corporatist. Still wealth distribution, just in the wrong direction.

We non-Americans have been saying it for years here, DS. US politics is far more right wing than the politics of most western liberal-democracies. Your lefties frequently do look like righties to us and we in the UK, for instance, have no major political presence that compares with your right-wing Republicans. In all I'd say, yep, Cameron and Obama are placed as I'd expect on that chart - ideological next-door neighbours.

DomKen -> RE: Find your political self on the 'Political Compass' (4/2/2013 8:30:25 PM)

I wound up where I always do on these sorts of things.
Economic Left/Right: -8.00
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -7.03

which is the bottom left corner of the graph.
