Can't say that I have, but then I truly feel that my experience of "society's" manners is positive because I help make it positive. I was brought up to say "please" and "thank you", open doors for people, help where I can and generally observe all those other social niceties which would fall under the category of "manners". And I tend to find that what I get back from people mirrors that which I give them. Sure, I do encounter the odd ass who, for whatever reason, doesn't appear to be aware of what the words "thank you" are for, but those people are very much in the minority for me. By the same token, if I go out with my sulky face on and act like a complete arse, I can be damn sure that the number of people who treat me with courtesy will decline rather rapidly.
