Okay, what I want to know is how the mom justified strippers at a 16 year old's party?

Wow, talk about an incredibly stupid human being. Not only to do something like that, but to think that there'd be no evidence of her stupidity caught for posterity. Most teens I know nowadays have smart phones fused to their hands.[8|]

As a parent myself, the LAST thing on the planet I ever want to see is my kid getting their jollies by watching strippers. And if my kid attended a party where a parent willingly provided drugs/alcohol/strippers, you'd see 50 shades of pissed off me

The faux outrage is just that. Mainstream Americans lead a stunted sexual life. It's all a part of the hypocritical US attitude and culture around sex.

In Europe generally, Scandinavia in particular among other countries, 16 is ok with this. 16 is many country's age of consent and even in the US with partners that are close in age and not in a position of authority.

Alcohol, drugs are of course out but didn't see that in the statement.

Sounds like she wants to be a friend not a parent. I went through this when my oldest was a teenager and he had friends who's parents were more friends then parents. Oh I was horrible to not let him do as he pleased, but now that he is older and out on his own and those kids are in nothing but trouble he understands.

Im assuming you were addressing me personally because I didnt see any indication that you were Fast Replying or anything like that. So if your post wasnt directed at me, I do apologize. But if it was directed at me, my response is that there isnt any faux outrage here, pal. If you choose to break the law, be prepared to accept the consequences that come with that decision. She didnt break the law in Scandinavia, she didnt break the law in any other European country...she broke the law in her local jurisdiction. You can call it American stunted sexual lives, you can call it hypocrisy, you can call it any little cutesy term you want to call it.

If she invited a stripper into her home to dance for her kid, thats her business. But the whole reason that she got in trouble in the first place is because she did it at an event where other teens were present. And whether you like it or not, what is okay for one parent isnt always okay for another.

Regardless of what happens in other countries, deciding for other people's children what is acceptable or not is part of the issue here. Her son turned 16. How do you know that he was the youngest at the party?

There's a reason in *this* country why the age for certain activities has been set at 18. It isn't just about sex. There are several areas where business and/or legal contracts can't be entered into with a sixteen year old. Not all people of that age have the maturity to understand the ramifications of various situations and that's why parents are still responsible for making those decisions.

I would think it would be one thing to show up at a party not knowing the clientele, and another thing entirely to dance for kids.

My son had a boring pizza party for his 16th party. No beer or women except my daughter that was 3 at the time.

Back then if my son was at someones house and they had alcohol and strippers there, I would have made a police report. What is legal in other countries makes no difference to me.

Actually the strippers at the bowling party was on a previous occasion, this party was at the woman's home.

That's the problem. She accidentally rented one of those stripper gorillas. One minute it's hooting around making snow ones and balloons, then BAM, she rips the costume off and it's titties everywhere.

Just a misunderstanding, really.

eerr....at 16 my older sisters, both in their twenties back then, threw me a party...complete with vodka soaked grapes and jello shooters. One of the worst hangovers I've ever had but not THE worst. That would happen the following year at a friend's house in her bedroom while her parents had no clue and were sitting in the living room. [:D]

My husband got the worst case of alcohol poisoning when he was 16 at his sisters 21st birthday party. He was drinking corona beer with shots of tequila and kahlua. To this day he shudders at the mention of tequila.
