Both side do it, not just the GOP, this is the very reason why we as a country will never see any Immigration reforms that are solid much less protect this country from illigal immigration..

Actually, the doomsday scenario for the GOP is if groups like the evangelicals splinter off.

That wouldn't do their numbers any good in the short term, but it'd be an improvement rather than Doomsday if they could get rid of the wingnut element. You have to demolish before you can start rebuild, after all.
