I remember reading The Stand, at night by candle light while all alone, in a creepy old, broken down, spooky house, during a vigorous thunderstorm. Needless to say, it darned near scared the badungas off of me. For a good while, I enjoyed many of King's books, but then in my opinion, sometime afterwards, his writing style and subjects changed dramatically. As the new style was not to my taste, I stopped reading him altogether. It's been over 20 years, so maybe it's time to give him another try.
