Stephen King is writing a sequel to The Shining; are you looking forward to it, or do you think he should leave well enough alone?

A link, for you.

I LOVE Stephen King him and Sherrilyn Kenyon are 2 of my favorite authors.

So I can't wait for him to finish it because I wanna read it!!

Level -> RE: Doctor Sleep (1/26/2013 7:01:18 PM)

I'm looking forward to it too; King seldom lets me down.

TheLilSquaw -> RE: Doctor Sleep (1/26/2013 7:02:29 PM)

I haven't read one of his books that I didn't enjoy.
I used to own them all but an ex thought I enjoyed my books more than him. Lol

ShaharThorne -> RE: Doctor Sleep (1/26/2013 7:05:12 PM)

Mom told me not to buy any more books...

Then I brought 3 this evening on Ebay.

I just love historical books...and Flagg...

Level -> RE: Doctor Sleep (1/26/2013 7:14:40 PM)

Yeah, but you have not seen me angry... Dont turn into the hulk, but I can be quite intimidating.

My niece and sister leave the house if my eyes turn black...

Turn into a crow, and you'll really freak them out.

Dont have to. My friends still come over to talk old times and never fail to mention what I did to my sister's boyfriend that fathered her first born, then turned around and said she was sleeping with everybody she worked with.

AthenaSurrenders -> RE: Doctor Sleep (1/27/2013 1:02:38 AM)

I voted 'meh'.

I'll probably read it sooner or later, but I've always found Steven King to be pretty hit-and-miss for me. Some amazing books, some I wish I hadn't bothered reading.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Doctor Sleep (1/27/2013 4:15:22 AM)

I did Meh as well...mind you, I did have "The Stand" unabridged for years and was reading the Dragon book when I was 17 (can't remember the title, sorry). A friend gave me one of the Tower books and I have not read it yet. It is just collecting dust while I am reading Kelly Armstrong's Otherworld books.

Aileen1968 -> RE: Doctor Sleep (1/27/2013 4:22:24 AM)

The Shining was the very first King book I ever read by him probably when I was about 14. Been hooked ever since.
The only ones I could never get into was the Dark Tower Series. I might try again.
As to the new one, can't wait.

Level -> RE: Doctor Sleep (1/27/2013 5:47:48 AM)

Same here, Aileen; I'm not sure what it is about the Tower books, but I've never gotten through them.

Winterapple -> RE: Doctor Sleep (1/27/2013 10:03:17 AM)

I absolutely want to read it.
I prefer the novel over the movie hands down.
I've never been able to get into the Tower series either.
Carrie was his first book! He's written more than one good book.

Lucifyre -> RE: Doctor Sleep (1/27/2013 10:15:11 AM)

Did he ever finish the Dark Tower series? I read what was available years ago but since they weren't complete by the time I was at the end of what he had, I never picked them back up again.
I'm still miffed that GRRM hasn't finished A Son of Ice and Fire yet...so I'm a little gun shy when it comes to series.
Like you Level, I feel that anything I've read by King seldom lets me down. But I'm not an avid reader any more so at this time in my life I guess that's not sayin much LOL

Kaliko -> RE: Doctor Sleep (1/27/2013 10:25:31 AM)

Yes, I would want to read it. But I'm voting "meh" because I have had a Stephen King book for weeks, now...and I only read a few pages. I used to devour a new book (or, new to me at least) in two days but I wonder if my taste is changing.

So yes, I will want to read it...but I wonder if I actually will.

Level -> RE: Doctor Sleep (1/27/2013 10:40:16 AM)

Winterapple, yes, he's written terrific books after Carrie; and I like your sig line.

Luci, my reading has slowed too; I'm too busy or too tired or too whatever lol. And he DID finish the series, I think, 8 books in all.

Kalliko, that happens. I used to read a ton of sci-fi, but haven't done so in years.
