Being a person who rides buses, subway, trains, etc...a lot, they are not the best places for musicians or artists who want others to stop what they are doing and listen to their music or see their art. People are busy, the transportation is usually running late or they missed the one earlier so they just want to get to where they are going. They can't afford to be late for work or appointments. There have been numerous times when I wanted to stop and listen but I couldn't. I just didn't have the time. If I was just having a day where I was just out shopping or strolling then fine, I would have and I have. Those who are playing in subways are not really there for others to stop but simply because that is where the most people are and therefore, the more people, the more who will throw some cash in their pot. It's a numbers game. Now if they really wanted for others to hear then they go to places like parks, tourist venues and shopping avenues.
