Thanks I appreciate getting to look at the reference. It seems that BoA did not tell the customers what they could or could not buy, they messed with the merchant's account.

I know PayPal does not allow the purchase of adult items if they realize the name of the merchant is an adult site.

Yep, which is strange when you consider that ebay, which does 98 % of its transactions thru paypal sell adult stuff again.
If you buy thru amazon tho, there doesnt seem to be an issue.
I can use paypal for my corsets, but I havent used it for the BDSM toy stuff in 8 years

So was this the seller of the prepaid card taking the money and refusing to allow the purchase, or was it the people who owned the game website not accepting the prepaid?

Because the former would be no different than someone paying by check, and the bank refusing to process it when there were sufficient funds.

My teenaged son received a prepaid card for Christmas last year. He wanted to use it for membership of his online game. It isn't an "adult" game, mind you - its not even a controversial game. When he went to use the prepaid credit card to buy the membership subscription it was declined. I called the customer service number and got through eventually to someone who assured me the card was good. Tried again - declined. Went to the local 7-11, bought a pack of gum with it (to check it out) and it worked. Hmmmm....called customer service again. Eventually I was told that they didn't accept that kind of purchase on the prepaid card.

So don't make an assumption that the prepaid card will work when your "real" card won't.

I discovered something strange a few days ago. I tried buying a membership with ALT.com and my card was declined. I thought strange. I have money on it. call my bank to find out what happened and it turns out my bank refuses to do business with that site. Something about where the money is transfered though if labled high fraud risk by the government, so my bank won't do buisness with them. Anyone else ever encounter something like this or know what country handles ALT's money transfers?

Has to do with how many people later claim "I never signed up for any such service"

Husbands and wives bitching (at the other) when they see it on their monthly statement.

Wow. I just read the BoA article. That is unreal. How can they just decide that? I hope he does find another bank to work with because that is wrong on so many levels. If they have such a problem with gun sells then they need to notify all gun vendors they do business with that they will no longer. Oh yeah, that will cause a lot of their consumers to change banks.

Has BofA ever paid back all their bail out funds?? I know they used some to purchase countrywide+assets but did tax payers ever get anything back from gov't sanctioned bad debt?
Seems ironic those with questionable business would question others business?
