Nice job 77

"People who are simply acknowledging the basic reality of marriage between one man and one woman are being labeled as "bigots" and "homophobic." Aren't we past that as a society?

He has the right to his opinion as does everyone else.

slvemike4u -> RE: NFL's Matt Birk: Let's protect marriage and speech (9/30/2012 7:52:38 PM)

Would you care to hear my opinion of Mr.Birk's opinion ?
It probably would not match yours,or Mr.Birk's.....lol
But he,and you are welcome to your opinion, the problem seems to be that you guys seem to have a desire to limit the options that others just might choose for themselves......which is what makes you and Mr.Birk wrong [:)]

DomKen -> RE: NFL's Matt Birk: Let's protect marriage and speech (9/30/2012 8:22:00 PM)

You don't think your opinion Matt Birk's commentary matches mine? I would think you would have agreed with the civility of his point.

Wait...

You do realize his commentary was on the public discourse and how reasonable people can disagree reasonably... or are you assuming his piece was written about something else?

DaNewAgeViking -> RE: NFL's Matt Birk: Let's protect marriage and speech (9/30/2012 8:30:59 PM)

This guy's problem is that he won't accept that people opposed to gay marriage are bigots. That's simply calling like it is, which is neither slandering anyone nor trying to suppress their precious freedom to mouth off with their hate speech. This Conservative Victim thing gets so old...

Who is Mr. Balling? How does this address Matt Birk's StarTribune commentary?

So tolerant...

FMRFGOPGAL -> RE: NFL's Matt Birk: Let's protect marriage and speech (9/30/2012 8:37:37 PM)

Better check with Tom Brady and see what he thinks.

Nice slant.....but epic fail [:)]

FatDomDaddy -> RE: NFL's Matt Birk: Let's protect marriage and speech (9/30/2012 9:04:21 PM)

It's not a slant, read the article

tazzygirl -> RE: NFL's Matt Birk: Let's protect marriage and speech (9/30/2012 9:05:48 PM)

His slant was that he agreed that marriage should be between one man and one woman... and that those who called people like him bigots are being mean.

Im sorry, I happen to disagree with him as well.

In fairness Brady doesn't really play wearing a dress, the NFL only protects him like he does.

"I think it is important to set the record straight about what the marriage debate is and is not about, and to clarify that not all NFL players think redefining marriage is a good thing."

tazzygirl -> RE: NFL's Matt Birk: Let's protect marriage and speech (9/30/2012 9:16:56 PM)

Same-sex unions may not affect my marriage specifically, but it will affect my children -- the next generation. Ideas have consequences, and laws shape culture. Marriage redefinition will affect the broader well-being of children and the welfare of society. As a Christian and a citizen, I am compelled to care about both.

I am speaking out on this issue because it is far too important to remain silent. People who are simply acknowledging the basic reality of marriage between one man and one woman are being labeled as "bigots" and "homophobic." Aren't we past that as a society?

Don't we all have family members and friends whom we love who have same-sex attraction? Attempting to silence those who may disagree with you is always un-American, but especially when it is through name-calling, it has no place in respectful conversation.

A defense of marriage is not meant as an offense to any person or group. All people should be afforded their inalienable American freedoms. There is no opposition between providing basic human rights to everyone and preserving marriage as the sacred union of one man and one woman.

There is no proof that a same sex union has an adverse effect on children.

What is the issue between calling two men married and a man and a woman married? I see no difference.

A defense of marriage is an offense to gay couples because it excludes them if we defend it as it is currently defined. If all americans have the same rights, why should that right to "love honor and cherish until death do you part" be specifically denied to any couple? And I do believe there is a huge denial of human rights to same sex couples. Not only human rights, but legal ones as well.

DomKen -> RE: NFL's Matt Birk: Let's protect marriage and speech (9/30/2012 9:20:58 PM)

To FDD

Are you really in agreeement with this crap? Are you really supporting claims about same sex marriage harming the well being of children?

Exactly now....as in, what ways ......is "marriage" threatened?

For example.....if you were married.....

How would the marriage or relationship of two men or two women, threaten your marriage?

Please be specific. That you`d "feel" threatened, is not enough.

Personally, someone poking into other`s private affairs is pretty threatening.

Someone doing so under the guise of religion, is disgusting.

No......one doesn`t get to hide their homophobic bigotry behind their church, temple or mosque.

Lucylastic -> RE: NFL's Matt Birk: Let's protect marriage and speech (9/30/2012 9:48:27 PM)

Whining about everyones free speech to label bigots (and homophobes or whatever) as they wish..
and they are trying to stop the fought for freedoms enabling all people in love to marry.

SternSkipper -> RE: NFL's Matt Birk: Let's protect marriage and speech (9/30/2012 9:48:47 PM)

Do we even know that fuckin Gary Busey Jr here even knows what relationships are?
He never struck me as any Rhodes Scholar.

Ya know Lucy... Despite this still coming up all the time. The more it does, the fucking kookier their arguments to the contrary sound.
And I remember when the arguments for same sex marriage sound as weak and.strained as the arguments against now sound.
