Let me ask you....

Nurses make... 40 - 60K a year. Guess where the other 40K comes from in most familes?

Guess where it comes from if its a single parent household?

Around 54% of custodial single parents are employed on a full-time basis, 28% on a part-time basis and 18% do not work at all.

Now, tell me again about that household income?

And you have no idea what the persons business model is. They may make a million and end up reinventing half to keep the business running.

If they're spending their business' $1m income on rent, payroll, R&D etc - then they're "only" earning a half million a year, not a million. Which is still a crazy amount of money.

If you can afford a penthouse and a housekeeper and private school for your kids, you're not middle class.

There may be something to that. But a million theses days doesn't go that far. Not like it did in the days of $0.05 a gallons gas. The threshold of what is rich has to increase with it.

Here is where Romney shoved his foot into it.

quote:

"Is $100,000 middle income?" asked host George Stephanopoulos.

"No," replied Romney, who would be one of the wealthiest presidents in history if elected. "Middle income is $200,000 to $250,000 and less."

Im gonna tell you, you can not get anyone who is making the median income of around 50,000 to believe 100k isnt middle class.

Except both Romney and Obama are talking about a family of 4 and you are talking about an individual.

You are insane. A family of four? What, they're all working? Mom, Dad, two teenagers, each pulling down 50Gs?

Nonetheless, they still would be far above the medium household income.

Both are talking about a family of four... Now if we took that 250K and divided it by 4, is that considered rich in ANY state?

I think a little kid making $75,000 a year would be considered pretty well-off, yeah. [&:]

What we're really talking about at $250k is, like, Mom's a lawyer and Dad's a surgeon and they have 2 kids and an au pair to look after them.
