But $1 million/year is very solidly upper-class anywhere in the world, and in a lot of spots in the US $60,000 is upper-middle. I'd say a middle class household income is more like $30,000 - $100,000 in most areas, and somewhat more in expensive areas. I think if you're making more than $150,000 anywhere, you're at least on the low end of upper-class.
