. . . to prevent them from nominating anyone but Romney.

Oh the potential for lawsuits!!! The mind boggles! On top of which, I'd say this guarantees a Ron Paul third party run. There is a Santa Klaus!

I don't think it means a third party run. But it *does* mean some very unhappy Republicans.

tazzygirl -> RE: RNC stripping delegates against its own rules . . . (8/27/2012 7:13:55 PM)

So, do they stay home? Meaning those who support Paul.

servantforuse -> RE: RNC stripping delegates against its own rules . . . (8/27/2012 7:20:54 PM)

No, they will not stay home. The goal for republicans will be to oust obama from office.

slvemike4u -> RE: RNC stripping delegates against its own rules . . . (8/27/2012 7:23:40 PM)

Duh....really servant ?
You think ?
Now tell us what they will do....since as you say "they will not stay home"?

servantforuse -> RE: RNC stripping delegates against its own rules . . . (8/27/2012 7:29:53 PM)

They will vote for Romney, in big numbers.

Even the ones who don't support Romney?

slvemike4u -> RE: RNC stripping delegates against its own rules . . . (8/27/2012 7:36:36 PM)

Actually they will erieangel, they will hold their collective noses and vote for Romney, simple explanation:He is not Obama !
True conservatives don't like, nor trust Romney, how could they ever truly adopt as one of their own the author of Romneycare ?

I suppose it's comforting to think that.
Man, is the bullshit story unraveling fast!

~fr~

I'm making a prediction on thin ice that this will pass unless they lose the election (fingers crossed), but that most will indeed vote along party lines instead of voting on candidates, issues or the like. Not sure if I'm expecting to be wrong, or just hoping very, very intensely that I will be.

Quite possibly... I am however weighing that MOST of the vocal 'Paulists' are loons and it won't take a lot of nudging to get a write in movement. Such ab event could possibly cost as much as 8-10% of the republican vote... Unless these rather loud Ron Paul fanatics are just bullshit artists. Regardless, I am sure there will be no tears shed in Norway or on the Deck of my vessel. [:D]

Winterapple -> RE: RNC stripping delegates against its own rules . . . (8/28/2012 1:16:53 AM)

They'll write in Ron Paul, not vote for Romney.
I know to many Ron Paul supporters to believe
they'll pinch their nose and vote for
Romney. And they love Ron Paul fervently.
If they think Mitt dissed their hero they
won't vote for him. Not even for the good
of the party. The fractured party.
(fast reply)

DaNewAgeViking -> RE: RNC stripping delegates against its own rules . . . (8/28/2012 5:55:38 AM)

In general I tend to go with Aswad - Party loyalty clearly outweighs common sense or common decency with these people. However, the RNCs games are SO blatant that even the Radicals are upset, so the upshot is that a lot of Paulists will likely stay home.

Romney seems so bent on preventing another Ron Paul that he's turning on all grassroots Republican activists. Your move, tea party.

I read an interesting article which put forth the theory that Romney's not doing this for 2012, but for 2016. He's worried that, should he win the Presidency in 2012, he might not be able to control the party in 2016.

I don't think he can control it in '16 either.
That's not a knock on him, it's a knock on what the system has devolved into over the last couple of decades.
Anyone who thinks they are 'controlling' a political party is having delusions of Topping from the bottom.

Newsflash fellas,,, I don't think he can get elected. Unless the Vegas and GB Oddsmakers change their numbers... this thing is a re-election waiting for the vote to happen.
As it stands now, You'll make $1.12 on every dollar you bet on Romney if you win. Whereas to make $0.40 on the dollar bet, Obama's got to win by a 3 point spread.
Anybody who actually WINS money wager, knows what that means. And anybody who's followed this indicator or bet it knows the last time the oddsmakers were wrong.
