He's in the process of doubling the square footage of his oceanfront La Jolla house. And he's petitioning the City of San Diego to lower the assessment of that property for the second time.

Here's the thing: I realize real estate values have gone down.

A little over two years ago he petitioned the city to reassess his property at a lower value and the city dropped the value from $12 million to $8 million.

He's requested it again based on the current house, but plans on doubling the square footage of that house.

While I don't think citizens, even presidential candidates, are required to arrange their affairs in the stupidest way possible so they end up paying higher taxes, Mitt really does take things to extremes. You have to admire someone who has so little interest in how his actions appear to others. I guess that is what happens when you have a life time membership to the billionaire boy's club.

Nice to see the defenders of civilization are all over this.  [8|]

I only had to sign up up for the automatic appeal on the assessed value of my house once, and it's been dropped 3 times, but the process does vary by county, here in California.

Anybody wanna bet on whether every contractor and sub-contractor who gets near the job, has all his employment eligibility information filled out?

Would you hate him as much if he had the same money but placed a D next to his name? Do you hate Kerry also? I have heard he has a lot of money, but I don't see people slamming him because of it.
