I saw thenm live once, right before I left Florida. It was (and will always be) one of the finest concerts I have ever seen (and I worked live concert production!).

They're doing it right....by going out on top. So many aging groups from the same era as them have put out albums in recent times only to show that they have lost their edge and flair for originality. The last one or two Rolling Stones albums come to mind as well as Van Halen's latest. Definitely far from wowing the masses.

Van Halen?? really? /*GAG* they lost it when Sammy (who I totally like in his own right) joined them. Anything they tried to revive with David was a waste!!

Stones? well, IMPO, they lost it after Some Girls. I have a friend who is a diehard Stones fan who saw their Lion or whatever it was called tour. Saw vid of it. Mick still prances as good as ever, but still.


Since CS&N don't generally do the prance across the stage, flying V guitars, pyro, or epiliectic seizure inducing light shows, I thinik they have a few more tours and a few more albums in them. c'mon.. such prolific writers have GOT some stories still to tell :)

He's somebody else who seems long past his best of late, but when he was on I love his stuff.

I think one of his best was the Rust never sleeps album.

of course, that may have something to do with the time at which it was released...

I love that one as well.
His acoustic stuff works a lot better when it's stripped down, rather than with syrupy string arrangements piled all over it (as with Harvest).
If I had to pick out just one, though, I think I'd go for Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere. (As good as killing Danny Whitten is something else that must be held against Y, really...)

Buffalo Springfield wasn't a supergroup, old boy: that was what the two or three big names in that did before anybody gave a hoot about them...
